Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #2: Factions

Travel on Earth is effectively instantaneous. All the players assign orders to their councilors simultaneously at specific points in time. (Currently is once a month.) Once all the orders are in, the actions are resolved in a set order. It's a bit like a worker-placement mechanic in board games. Th...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC

I don't know that we'll get around to working on the other standalones ourselves, though. I'll ask our guys to keep an eye on these forums and help out anyone trying to convert them. So does that mean you still intend to make the standalone coil/laser/smg weapons for WOTC even if you don't the whol...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC

Long War 2 WoTC for free. Nice thing. 3rd party can accept donations but can't sell mod . I mean if they're accepting donations to work on a mod... They are effectively selling the mod, because they are accepting money to work on it. You certainly can't convince any judge that isn't true regardless...

Re: Terra Invicta Dev Diary #1

Another possible solution might be the logistics of FTL, may be that it's a literal impossibility to bring a full invasion army, instead they must bring the resources they can't produce locally and source what they can while they built an in-situ fleet. Presumably an assault at this range is only fe...

Re: Killzone and Squadsight

It is... Badly worded.
It's meant to say that you don't need long watch for squadsight shots, not that you don't need squadsight.
Meaning you still need squadsight to fire in that range.

No idea how to change, though.

Re: WotC is literally impossible to lose??

@ JulianSkies What month and trust level are you currently with the Skirmishers ? I think that order does appear on all campaigns, but it is randomized when exactly. I did not get it right away in my current campaign for example. It is... 12/06/2035, whatever that parses as. Just checking the loadi...

Nope, card is not in fact always available. Going through a game like that right now.

he mod team have gone out of their way in the past to make the mod as compatible as possible, so it makes sense. As for XSkin System, other skin systems have their own incompatibilities, and that mod hasn't seemed to take off (it only supports a small number of weapon/armor mods). I think having th...

For what's worth the guerrilla ops in base game if you do the objective and extract you still counter the dark event, but don't get the material reward. And it makes sense, if you're not clearing the area to lot the damn place for stuff/make it safe to look for sympathizers then you're not going to ...

Metal Over Flesh looks alright, but I'm not keen on the aspect of it where we buy global stat upgrades. Actually that's my favourite part of it! It makes SPARKs feel unique in that their growth is separate from a normal soldier's, they're machines and grow stronger by refining their construction, w...

True, but on the other hand figuring out what will be the optimal solution before starting to build the house is better than changing mind once it's half-built. So while ideas are super cheap, they are also good to have many of from many different viewpoints, then the devs can feel confident they h...

Fatigue a soldier gains in a mission isn't really random but there's a lot of factors, each factor is capped at inflicting at max 33% of your max will in fatigue, though. There's simply finding a new pod. There's taking damage. There's suffering any kind of status. (even non-damaging ones) Chosen wi...

2K can't "terminate" the mod, I don't believe, particularly because it's a mod like any other and follows the same rules, I think it's Creative Commons? Do check the mod page. I'm not sure at all what their contract with 2K was, I think it was just "make a mod", any further details we can only specu...

Re: 1.5 playthrough questions and observations

I should point out that the vip rescue missions where you start with an evac already placed are an exception to the rule and the reinforcements starts ticking the moment the map starts, hence why you can see the green reinforcements warning. So yes you still have just 12 turns, despite the lies of ...

Re: 1.5 playthrough questions and observations

Gotta say, timers are alright in LW2. Most unforgiving IMO are those vip rescue timers where you see 24 turns remaining but doom reinforcements start dropping at about 12, 14 turns remaining. One every two rounds. That is hell, especially when you first find out about this. The moment when doom rei...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Have patience, there's always other games to play, or indeed, other hobbies to enjoy. IF LWoTC is indeed being developed, 2K is likely monitoring sales figures to time an announcement with a die down in sales, in order to renew interest once that happens. That's part of the problem I personally hav...

give some ADVENT guys battle scanners and when they hear a shot coming from an area where they don't see anyone, they throw it at their turn. Make lamp posts use Scanning Protocol. Let ADVENT guys call a 1-drone reinforcement that can cast Scanning Protocol. Give some aliens true-sight, which WotC ...

From xwynns video I learned that this is most likely the final patch - so I hope it is the final nerf. To be honest WotC resolves the "Soldier either fights or conceals" but giving you the Reaper, that fights from concealment.
I'm 100% certain PI can make a fun-to-play Reaper that doesn't make their testers have a heart attack.

I can see the backlash to the incendiary nerf will look like child's play when Pavonis decides what LWotC will do with the new classes. Time for people to learn how to mod so they can play LWotC how they want regardless of the official design decisions. With regards to "Reaper is OP", I've never gi...

Re: The AWC in LWotC - a proposal

I believe when "best build gets spammed" was said, it didn't mean "1 build only". It'll be "best build for given role" and depending on playstyle you only need about 3~4 different builds across your entire barracks. Sure it feels good to stick to a small familiar design space but your soldiers stop...

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

Just reiterating my point that the only leg anyone has to stand on to complain about Reaper in LW2 is the very reduced detection range, our current classes do everything other than concealment better or at least just as good and more often. Agreed, that part is completely ridiculous. I will be hone...
