Re: SPARKS too OP?

What other mods are you running? Sparks can't use a PCS in either vanilla or Long War. And they can't get that much base HP, either. They'll have 12 HP base, with +8 more from end-tier chassis. As to the defense buffing.... you have now encountered the defense-buff cheese strat. The AI doesn't handl...

Skullmining damage ini location?

Anyone happen to know where the damage for skullmining can be set, if it's an ini file? Skulljack does the proper 99 damage, but skullmining only does 20 and can lead to living ragdolls. Been looking all over, can't find it.

Re: LW2 1.5 Bugfixes

I'm assuming this mod doesn't play nice with the Alternative Mod Launcher? Didn't recognize it with the files extracted into a new folder with the specified path.

Tried moving it elsewhere and giving it its own mod directory, still no dice.

Center mass increase 1 crit damage and Lethal Increase 3 crit damage, can you confirm that if is a perfect information bug. And the fleche or slash attack do crit damage same as the base damage, incresing with range. Thats is my first long war 2 playthrough, and i think that is incorrect. Well, I'm ha...

Re: Concussion Rocket?

This was a bug I spotted in playtesting shortly after 1.3 launched. It's there because otherwise the crowd-control aspect of the rocket would ALSO hit friendlies, not just the damage. Fixing the bug would result in stunning your own guys if they got hit with it. However, it was decided by the mod te...

Re: Increase Field Medic Skill Charges!

There is an .ini setting for this, but LW doesn't adjust it, so you won't find it in their .inis by default. The game uses vanilla settings unless LW actively changes them. So LW ini settings take priority, as do other changes, but otherwise the game goes off the base .ini. To make this change, go i...

Re: 1.5 playthrough questions and observations

6) Grazing is now a core game mechanic, rather than a Viper-thing as in Vanilla. The Graze Band is a +/- value that shaves off of the to-hit rolls the game makes when you take a shot. By default, it's 10% on each side (miss and hit). It's somewhat mathy, so bear with me. So in Vanilla, a 60% chance ...

Re: Conceal in 1.4

Tradecraft is exceptionally useful on scout Shinobi. Drastically cuts down their infiltration footprint. They also make great Officer candidates. They're my favourite TBF Officers. Conceal on them is not meant to enhance combat. It's meant to open up more tactics and serve as insurance against mista...

Re: Painful Skill Tree Changes

Think it's a middle ground. Less robot hordes, but more than 1.2. They are also adding some more chances to get some of the rarer alien corpses like Archons, Andromedons, etc. I think there's a chance of an alien pod on mid-late game troop columns that contains some of the rarer blokes. Hard to keep...

Re: A Tale of two players

It's of course a rare constructed scenario - although, with 250k subscribers and campaigns that take 100+ missions to complete, how rare will it actually be? Still quite rare. As the chances of Player A's good result will also happen more often. The percentages will remain the same. This thread was...

Re: Painful Skill Tree Changes

Full override at gsgt, and the hordes of robots, is what makes the specialist good now. You don't need any other skills, doesn't matter if you're a medical or overwatch spec, full override reliably kills a unit, and adds it to your team. On GOPs, having a hacked unit to draw fire is a huge boost. I...

I do wish AWC training times were shorter so players would actually experiment more - would definitely enourage diversity. Actually, is that config editable? ---> Config ---> XCOMLW_AWCPack The bit you'll want to edit is the following bit: TrainingDaysForAWCLevel[1] = 4.0f TrainingDaysForAWCLevel[2...

Re: Painful Skill Tree Changes

Just a heads up, but Reaper was changed. It got a bigger damage/kill penalty. But this is offset by the shorter cooldown and the new Coup de Grace (which also makes Cutthroat better). Less of a damage spike, but up more often. Swords themselves also got a damage increase on the upgraded tiers for 1....

Re: Painful Skill Tree Changes

Yeah. Stealthnobi got hit with some hefty nerfs. But 1.2 gameplay tended to be "spam as many stealth ops as possible". Another really tough one for me is Cutthroat vs Hard Target. That one hits me right in the feels every time I have to make the call. Plus side is you ought to check out bl...

SPARKs were my baby during playtesting. They got a lot of buffs in 1.3, but I'm still very keen to hear people's opinions on them as they stand, especially relative to 1.2. My experience in late 1.3 testing was that they were very powerful when you got them in mid-game, excelling at missions like Sm...

It also shows up on the SPARK perk tree, much to my consternation.

For everyone else, it's balanced. It's a tier 1/2 perk, as was said. Pretty good for that, all things considered.

Yeah. They're really easy to detect, as they're meant to be the main income source, though you still need Supply Raids/Troop Columns/Rendevous to get corpses. Any event, iiirc there was a change towards S&G resource distribution towards the latter half of 1.3s development cycle... Since elerium ...

He may be referring to his "RemoveFortressDoom not working" thread, which received its first reply not long after he made the post saying it didn't have any replies. Although the language doesn't strike me as particularly neutral, so maybe he did delete the one he's talking about. If that...

You know, the funny thing is I made a different post right before this one, in a fairly matter-of-fact manner, using neutral language and it has no answers. It was intended as an experiment to see what happens when I do that. Damned if I do, damned if I don't, I guess. Just searched your post histo...

Yeah. Shinobi don't get a large hack bonus at Squaddie. But they do get a bit from every rank. As an aside, SPARKs got some big buffs to Hack. Start with more, get more through their BIT Upgrades, etc. They'll serve well enough as alternate hackers, especially as they can do so from range like a Spe...

The points are valid. Reaper was the only redeeming feature of non-stealth Shinobis. I would argue the keyword there is was . Coup de Grace is a big factor, there. It went from a melee Kubikiri to a general damage boost against enemies under a wide variety of status effects. +25 aim/+25 crit/+1 dam...

Re: Stealth missions in LW 1.3

My experience in 1.3 has been that Stealthing is still viable, but much harder. It requires more perk investment as the game goes on and is a LOT less reliable. That last bit is the key takeaway from my experience. Sometimes I send in a guy or two for a stealth attempt, but find the patrols and the ...
