Mod question/Idea
Several of the covert missions hand out development points like candy. Are there any mods for a covert mission that gives a soldier a new perk option? Whether it has to be paid for in points is subject to balance and discussion. There could be a pool of perks available that are only available throug...

Adaptations for LW2 for WotC
Thinking about how Firaxis has implemented WotC. I've been kicking around assumptions on adapting that for LW2. Also been kicking around other changes in my head. All of the things here have balancing issues that would need to be worked out. 1. XCOM starts with just 1 or 2 standard classes. All of t...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
Nothing to update, I'm afraid, but thanks for your continuing interest. From a practical point of view: Can you make any statement about use of the mod as-is and the upcoming expansion - Should users of the mod uninstall the mod if they plan on playing War of Chosen? Can we expect unusual/unexpecte...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce
I really hope we don't have to make a decision- either play expansion OR LW2. That would suck. LW1 and LW2 make the base games 3x as good. I'm very happy that 2k is releasing an expansion, but they seriously need to coordinate with the LW crew, whenever and wherever possible. Indeed. Frankly, I'm d...

Re: Viability of delayed Liberation
You need to cause enough of a ruckus elsewhere to get the AI to draw down troop strength. In the mean time overall Adventnstrength is climbing unless you can consistently kill troops in troop reduction missions. In the long term overall legion strength will climb faster than you can manage.

Avoid it
Avoid it. Reported enemy mission strength is incorrect if it's a trap mission (if it says "light" assume it is heavy or swarming for a trap mission). There are many enemies on a trap mission and once concealment is blown the reinforcement train will start dropping on you very regularly and...

Re: Officer training times and using squads
I suppose you can completely ignore the squad system, and just pick your guys for every mission the old fashioned way. Personally, I like to task squads with specific mission types, and since the soldiers in those squads have specific perks for their designated mission, those squads tend to stay to...

Re: Strategy layer approach during the mid-game?
Jobs in new regions: depends on how much stomach you have for missions popping up in your face constantly :D I just went intel everywhere in an effort to stop as many DEs as possible, with maybe one token recruiter and recruiting from the haven advisor. So I did find a pretty good amount of DEs and...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
An easy way to fix psi-ops is to just give them no infiltration time on a mission. The first psi soldier can be added for free, and maybe even reduce things overall. They are mind readers after all , which would be a great advantage for infiltration. Someone else said something to this effect also ...

Re: Alternate throught - PsiOps replaces the AWC for some soldiers
I migight quibble about some of the implementations, but I like this idea. It would definitely give some different flavor to each of the psiops even if they could get the whole tree of regular perks. Unfortunately, I'm sure by version 1.2, they are not looking to do significant revisions, but given...

Alternate throught - PsiOps replaces the AWC for some soldiers
Thinking about PsiOps again for a minute. I am thinking about having act as an alternative to the AWC. Once the PsiChamber is built you can stick people in the PsiOps tube -as long as they have never had AWC training. Some of the skills would have to be dependent upon others (Fortress before Bastion...

Re: Could we have another tube in the AWC or GTS
Part of my intent is, I am not entirely countering NCE. But there is limited availability to improve some soldiers so you can paper over some of the issues in the squad. It might be a more viable item if NCE had a WIDE range of rookie attributes that were available so some conditioning of rookies wa...

Could we have another tube in the AWC or GTS
Call it a "Advanced Conditioning and Training" tube. Select the soldier and pick: Aim, Will, Move, Hack, Health, Dodge. After a training period that single attribute is improved (Aim, Dodge, Hack, Will by 3-7 and Move, HP by 1). The training time is predicated on the soldier's existing ski...

Path issues on buildings
LW 1.1 Map packs, PCP packs, character appearance add ons (hats, faces, camo patterns, voices) This occurs on City center maps. I have had pathing issues on tops of buildings. In several cases, when I go to have the soldiers drop off the building they run back to the drain pipe to drop off the build...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
Part of the issue is in general there are four primary powers and then support skills for those powers. Insanity + booster (gives damage + rupture) Soul fire + booster (gives vampirism) Stasis + 2 boosters (self protect + help others) Fortress + bastion Mind merge+booster Then Fuse Solace Null lance...

Re: Good PG Projects
For me (admitted on rookie mode) Straight out of gate when the PG is first built: Nanovest or hazmat vest - immediate HP gain and stacks with ceramics. I like the plates and armor vest, but they aren't available straight out of the gate. Suppressors - after the first one they are cheap and help infi...

Soldier skill perks and AWC perk interactions
1. Can a soldier get a perk on the AWC that is available in their standard soldier skill tree?
2. If yes, does that prevent the soldier from training that skill on the soldier tree?

Re: Psi Ops still suck?
I would like to see the PsiOps have the ability to get all the skills again. With the trade off that once the soldier hits master there is a steep time add for every skill added beyond that. So if you add one skill beyond master it is a three day training penalty. If you add two it is six days, etc ...

Budgeting and number of soldiers to recruit
Full discosure: I'm on Rookie. (I played and won the last LW, and knew from the beginning I wanted to start at the bottom). Interesting trade off: Having more troops available means you can try to strike at more targets (I'm skipping the discussion on trooper disposition within teams for this discus...
