It could very well be Avenger Events. I just disabled that and the LW2 version of it, and everything immediately started up/finished again. (Both building and research)

Just ran into this myself, and I'm not running many mods. It seems like I have three mods in common with Pendrako and just the one with Kairoradeus, though.
