I don't think the startegy layer needs much tweaking. If you are that far in time, you should ask yourself what you are doing wrong, when the lib chain can be completed on legend difficulty by the end of april. The first liberation should always be your primary concern. And with Advent busy enough,...

So, i'm in July.. July 20th only have 5 havens, don't have enough intel to add another one... I don't even have a gunnery sergeant yet... am i wasting my time? do i need to start over? VIP extracts suck. There's just no reason not to cheese them, as they still play exactly the same as vanilla, but you have to fight through Long War enemies to reach the immobile evac volume or you auto-squadwipe. There's no reason to ever send an actual squad on these. Funny thing is the last hack...

Liberation missions will generally look unattractive: short infiltration times, high enemy activity and low resource reward. So if you didn't know to prioritise liberation you probably just skipped them every time. how would we know to prioritize liberation without these forums... hell, i STILL don...

i am dreading the first retal mission... the faceless ones i've been pretty lucky with...

unless you really screw up the ambush, you should be able to take out the advent and then run back overwatch and shoot the faceless as they advance...

thanks trihero, well, at least i know that i'm not the only one doing it. It is a huge pain, but when attacked it's worth it. dang it... so, the smoke grenade and the flash grenade perks count as weight against the soldier... well that just screwed my whole reason for getting the damn things...
