Re: cover and mind control

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way, but it has always worked this way since vanilla, and the same thing happens when you mind control enemy units.

Re: Rendezvous scaling wow!

Hmm, the Rendezvous missions are a good addition: experience, corpses, drops, variety, kinda fun, etc. They seem to scale surprisingly quickly in terms of Faceless, even at Vet/Ironman level. In very early game I had one pop within a week of contacting second zone (Str 2, Vig 2) and had 2 Faceless ...

Re: Minumum Pod Spawns

Correction: S'n'G *can* have solo drones. None of the schedules for smash'n'grab have any single entity pods. You can get pods with a drone in them, but not a drone by itself. If you actually got a smash'n'grab with a solo drone in it in 1.4, then it has to be a bug. Are you sure about that? As far...

That bug only affects cases where there is no doom left in the waterworld fortress, and all doom is in facilities. That's unlikely to be the case for your first region, so I think you're fine.

Re: Aliens hitting me frequently through full cover

Interesting. I also feel the AI could really do with some improvement, but for almost opposite reasons to you. As far as I'm concerned, it suppresses/overwatches way too often, as in most circumstances it's about as good as double moving. Especially late game, I have a ton of ways to disrupt either ...

It's also worth baring in mind that trihero's experience may come from his Rookie playthrough, where he has researched Plasma in August. If you're trying to build Plasma weapons in August, you're going to find that Elerium is a bit of a bottleneck.

Re: Aliens hitting me frequently through full cover

Something to bear in mind when you're looking for anomalies is range bonuses - it's easy to forget that these apply to ADVENT also, and they benefit from the 1.3 buffs too. I've found a lot of players forget about them when calculating opponent's chance to hit.

Re: Questions/feedback about Smash & Grab

1) I think you can. I use the BM as a means of smoothing over the RNG on VIP extract missions. If I find myself unusually low on either Scientists or Engineers (due to RNG), I can go and pick one up from the BM. The fact that I could have bought an engineer or scientist anyway doesn't change the fac...

Take a look at these: http://imgur.com/a/K70sW Thinking the aim stats from the mod is bugged. Anyone know how to retrieve aim stats for aliens through a file? Yeah, yeah it's XCOM, but nah. I have 900 hours logged in XCOM 2 and it's happening frequently enough that I'm convinced it's buggy. Perfect...

Re: Your least favorite things about 1.3 ?

Have you checked that the mod showing you the percentages is correct? I don't know how it calculates the percentages it shows you, but I don't think it uses the same percentages as the game (because the came makes a single roll for crit/hit/dodge, and the mod shows percentages for independent rolls).

Re: Your least favorite things about 1.3 ?

Almost all the CC-type aim penalties were reduced by 5 (Disorient, Suppression, Poison, Smoke). 5 may not seem like much, but it makes a huge difference to enemies who already have low aim chance. So, for example Advent Officer shooting a soldier in low cover from 6 tiles away while Suppressed and F...

If weapons want to use Thaco and other equipment Armor Class...so be it. But do it. Way off topic but +1 just for mentioning Thaco. It was sort of weird you specifically mention Thaco as this morning I was thinking about how much graze reminded me of the old D&D natural fumble rules. You have s...

Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

I think you'll struggle to get any traction with changing the underlying mechanics because a) it's a lot of work and b) every suggestion I've seen is actually mathematically equivalent to what the game does anyway, allowing for scalar adjustments. So every suggestion basically boils down to roll a d...

Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

I think there is currently 2 real issues with the Graze Band : Immobile structures (relays, gaz tanks...) should be excluded because those don't use Aim at all but rather have a fixed 100% to hit (or at least that's how i understand them). This is the small one. The UI wrongly report 95% Chance to ...

Re: Shinobi no longer gets a hacking stat bonus?

I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed, but I think you're remembering the bonus as being higher than it actually was. Squaddie Shinobis usually end up with a Hack score of 15-25, which is about 10 points higher than everyone else (except Specialists, obviously).

Re: Suggestion: Stop geoscape scanning at Normal, not at 100%

This is more or less correct. The "readiness" numbers affect the alert level of the mission in a discrete way (as in, there are tiers) but there are other parameters (such as reflex action % chance) where every single point of infiltration matters. I had forgotten about the new breakpoint...

Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

I think the only real reason this bothers people is they believe that a shot where they have either 100% or 0% to hit should never graze. Intuitively, players clamp hit chances at 0% and 100%. People just need to get used to the fact that LW2 instead clamps at -graze% and 100+graze% (so -10% and 110...

Suggestion: Stop geoscape scanning at Normal, not at 100%

Currently, when a mission reaches 100% infiltration, the geoscape stops so you can launch it. However, you actually hit Enemy Readiness: Normal somwhere between 87% and 100% infiltration, and once you have reached that point, there's no benefit in going up to 100%. You can take advantage of this by ...

I'm sad to see that 'Destroy the Monument' missions didn't get a mention. Are they still in their never-do-these state, or are they worth doing now? You're confusing Vigilance (a hidden stat that the game never directly shows you) with Strength (or alert - they're the same thing) which you can see for each region. Vigilance is affected by doing successful missions, and decays by 1 if there is no activity in a region for a week. The AI uses vigil...

Re: Crit Doge mechanics

Not quite. The game makes two rolls independently, one for crit and one for dodge. If the dodge roll succeeds but the crit doesn't, then it will downgrade a hit to a graze and a graze to a miss. If the crit roll succeeds but the dodge doesn't, then it will upgrade a hit to a crit, and a graze to a h...

They're still adding changes (you can see on the 1.3 changes sticky). Last time I made this comment (3 weeks ago) they were at 16 changes. This week it went up to 26 changes. I would imagine there's still more testing to do, so I wouldn't expect it for at least another week or so.
