Re: Difficulty increase during infiltration
Not quite. Super UFOs add 2 strength to the region they land in and 1 strength to two adjacent regions, for a total of four strength.

Re: UFO missions Only?
Most General Operations stop appearing at Vigilance 13. Troop Ambushes last until Vigilance 16, and Smash and Grabs have no Vigilance restrictions. It sounds like Vigilance is high in all of your remaining regions, so most of the mission types have been choked out. You aren't actually getting more U...

Re: Discover faceless with military haven advisor
That's not really how it works. There are four retal "buckets" that are filled and emptied separately: 1) The full retal bucket, which is filled by any rebel activity (hiding doesn't count) 2) The recruit retal bucket, which is filled by recruit jobs 3) The intel retal bucket 4) The Supply...

Re: Discover faceless with military haven advisor
I only run two kinds of supply havens: ones that I know are clean of faceless, and ones that I'm testing. A haven is clean if it recently survived a full retaliation, or if you got a clean bill of health from the monthly review screen while it was active. If I'm considering moving a haven into suppl...

Re: Discover faceless with military haven advisor
Now I wonder, do you Keep soldier advisors to catch faceless or do you prefer to use engineers/scientists for more supply/Intel? Soldier should be your default advisor. Scientist and engineer advisors are best used in maxed out havens, and even then, only when you have a specific plan. Soldiers 1) ...

Re: Effects of liberation on ongoing troop columns
I doubt it. I once got a Troop Ambush in a region with 1 strength. It had started at 4, but apparently lent 3 legions to three separate neighbors by the time I had finished infiltrating. Nothing weird happened when I completed the mission. Strength stayed at one, and no legions mysteriously vanished...

Re: Psionics - I was doing it all wrong.
I find the weapon techs to be underwhleming. You get a small, incremental advantage, and to really leverage it, almost everyone has to have it. An EXO Suit has a larger, more dramatic effect on the battle, and you only need one. Ballistics work fine until Tier 2s become common, which is about the ti...

Re: Psionics - I was doing it all wrong.
I've done this before, and honestly, I found it underwhelming. You can also get EXO Suits around April, which gives you a much more powerful ability that can be added to any soldier, and doesn't require you to divert research or resources away from the normal tech path. Soulfire in April is... okay....

What, exactly, does the Advanced Arc Thrower do?
It displays as having higher damage, but Arc Throwers don't do damage, unless you have the Arc Pulser perk. Does this upgrade do literally nothing if you don't take that one specific perk?

Re: Hit and run vs close encounters vs rapid fire. Need opinions
Rapid Fire: This is about doubling down on your existing strengths. IT lets you play a standard Run and Gun Assault, but with more firepower. A Rapid Fire Assault will still be able to delete specific aliens, even when ADVENT health climbs out of one-shot territory. Close Encounters: A transformativ...

Re: Commander Level After Action Report
I seriously never used it except for a few of my favorite soldiers from the pool, making them be the class that they are "fated" to be. I play with NCE off, so it made virtually no difference at all.

Re: No Reinforcement Farming vs No Experience
I guess the question that interests me is: What's more important? Creating a balanced game for the majority of players who play the game for enjoyment's sake or making it absolutely impossible for the die-hard power gamer to cheese and farm his/her way to victory? Is preventing them from doing what...

Re: To what degree can dark events break a campaign
The game is balanced and designed around the assumption that ADVENT will eventually get all of the DEs. They're just not that bad. I used to get more than a full page of tactical DEs, and it didn't matter. In 1.3, they changed the cooldown mechanics so that you get less (you used to get like, 3-4 ta...

Maybe supression should scale with weapon tech? Supressed is a good debuff when alien aim is around 60, but is much less impressive when it's around 80.

Re: Let's talk Gunner
What? I thought all class-specific Infiltration penalties were gone. It seems so much more elegant to have classes not affect Infiltration (other than Shinobis being better at it, perhaps). You can see it in XComLW_InfiltrationSettings.ini. The penalities/bonuses aren't really tied to classes, but ...

Re: Covering Fire not proccing
I've had the same problem. It seems to be more common when an alien moves into position, but not quite close enough to proc overwatch, and then fires. Logically, if they can fire at your soldier, the soldier should be able to Covering Fire back, but it doesn't always happen.

Re: How do you deal with yellow alert flanking shots?
I feel that the mechanic would be greatly improved by having the aliens shoot first and then get their move. It's weird that pods are oftentimes more dangerous when they don't know where you are than when they are quasi-surprised.

I'm not sure what to say. It absolutely works on my end. I just did a quick sanity test to confirm. I can switch between the vanilla two tree classes and the LW three tree classes just fine. I can post screenshots if someone really wants me to.
