Re: Why is Killzone 2 AP?

I think because the number of actions that an ability uses is not dependent on the weapon in Xcom2. So abilities like Killzone ability has its 2 actions set by the original class that used it. Additionally the value is not exposed to the player (it's certainly not in the inis not sure if it can be e...

Precision shot> dgg in most cases as you will cap aim very quickly with dfa steady.

Re: Mod: True Concealment

I am using this on Veteran Difficulty and am curious, how many folks find that the mission ends up being doable inside the original time limit? I find the lack of pressure actually is improving my game play. I play commander or legendary without the mod. For the most part every mission is doable in...

Re: If you could "rig" the AWC...

If I select the pistol perk that let's you "return fire with your pistol", do I actually have to equip a pistol to use it? The only pistol I ever equip is the shadow keeper, so this perk is mostly pointless to me unless I don't use a slot in my gear. Yes, you do. Generally only train pistol perks o...

Re: Am I the only one that thinks AWC perks should be visible?

You know exactly what perk you will get when you train a perk up. The perk does not change, it's exactly what it says on the tin You have no idea what the next perk will be until you train a perk up. That's the part that is output RNG, unless you make your AWC perks visible and remove that output R...

Re: Am I the only one that thinks AWC perks should be visible?

Input precedes the action. If i'm given a set of randomized variables and have to work with those it's input RNG. I have to work with randomized AWC perks so it's input RNG. Output comes after the action. If i take an action without knowing what result i'll get it's output RNG. If i train someone w...

Re: Am I the only one that thinks AWC perks should be visible?

So one of the ways that game designers can modify systems is to add RNG. Fundamentally there are two kinds of RNG, input RNG and output RNG... Going strictly by your definition, randomized AWC perks rather than fixed sets per class is input RNG and i think everyone likes the various perks we can ge...

Re: Flanking : an exploit ?

Are you sure they're respecting the flank and not moving to better cover? Enemies like to move in general, unless they have good cover. They also intentionally run suppression quite a bit.

Hilarious if true though

Re: Am I the only one that thinks AWC perks should be visible?

If you can see all the AWC perks in advance you're going to select soldiers for your team which have the ideal AWC perks that you want. That turns the "input RNG" designed to make your soldiers different in every playthrough into a maximization game where you select the best AWC soldier and make su...

Re: If you could "rig" the AWC...

Does anyone know if aggression/BEO work on grenades? I have a grenadier with both AWC skills. They should. However its important to note that the base is that grenades have 0% crit and 0 crit damage. So if you give them +1 crit damage (alone) they cannot crit. And if you give them +30% crit alone t...

Re: Am I the only one that thinks AWC perks should be visible?

I think hidding AWC perks is very punishing in addition to the enormous amount of time we need to retrain a soldier. I get the point of having exagerated retraining times in order to make that our decissions be almost definitive. But with random perks we actually don't know what we are doing exactl...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

When you're not engaged and have a full overwatch trap no. It's really not. If you don't have an overwatch trap then there isn't any difference edit: I would further add that when you do have a full overwatch trap the additional value is marginal. And if you're considering situations where not all o...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

Kind of, but no. For instance, conceal shouldn't be balanced around its utility as a combat perk in the same way that serial is. Different things are strong in different situations, and in situations where they're not dominant their relative power is not particularly important. Additionally, situati...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

I doubt that, even if a ranger is turned into a 100% to-hit, 100% crit, 3 OW/turn shooter that that would be enough to significantly impact the ability of a team to fight situations where you don't get a good ambush(minus having a team of all rangers maybe). Not that i am suggesting that rangers sh...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

Still curious as to OP's thoughts on how he activates pods, to contextualise the different opinions on OW - whether it is partly because of playstyle that you think OW is weak. Well obviously the best way to activate a pod is by hitting a high damage AoE ability on them while they're still clumped ...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

First off, if you have an overwatch spec'd ranger, for example, their shots shouldn't be inferior shots. Yes. They are. A non-OW spec'd ranger will have either CM or aggression and will have a higher hit rate on rapid fire against exposed targets than the OW spec'd ranger will against exposed targe...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

I think many players myopically focus on the individual effectiveness of each soldier, and neglect to account for the concept of a balanced squad being greater than the sum of its parts. If you're rolling with a squad of 8 soldiers, in my experience you can absolutely afford to have one or two that...

Re: What to do about Overwatch?

Personally, I don't think anything needs to be "done" about Overwatch. It may have had a different impact/effectiveness in Long War 1, but XCOM EU and XCOM 2 are different games, and overwatch by extension works differently. Personally, it seems to work just fine in my opinion. I have a few charact...

What to do about Overwatch?

In Long War 1 overwatching used to be a very strong ability. Enemies AI would respect it and so you could use it to hold their movement. The perks that made it stronger were varied and powerful. But now overwatch is kind of weak. There are a few builds that kind of work, but in general its a bonus y...

I have just received advise of a dark event mission with 2 days left. It needs to hack something on advent station. My idea is simple, I will chose a 17 mobilty shinobi, unequip all, chose a smg and will try to sneak up to one blue movement to the objective, then hack it and probably die. You can a...

Discussing medics: what do you all think of field medic on a shooter (ranger, assault, sniper, etc) as an AWC perk? Worthless? Enables you to run without a specialist? Useful backup for a specialist on high body count missions like supply raids, psi gate, and waterworld? I had the fortune to roll f...

Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)

(IIRC wounds are based on lowest HP value, so getting healed up then shot again effectively reduces the timer) and keeping soldiers alive. Is that the case? So if you get hit for say 4 and healed, then hit for 3 damage, your recovery time is identical to having been hit once for 4 damage? I hope it...

Re: Questionable Perks

In long war 1 flush has a higher success rate, demolition and hail of bullets were not on the tree, and active overwatch trapping was more valuable because opportunist entirely eliminated the aim penalty when using reaction fire.

Edit: and flush did 50% instead of 10% damage. (And no cd)
