Brutal and impossible it happened pretty often. Hell, even on Classic Thin Men Snipers (or Thin Men in general) you could expect them NOT to miss and crit kill your guys. This was very much in LW1. If you use Smoke and flashbangs it can help. But you saw it even in Vanilla XCOM and XCOM 2

This is a vanilla bug sadly. Its probably the same bug that lights advent on fire and activates a pod halfway across the map. Do you have the Dev console turned on? If so just ttc him to the tile next to the fire.

Yes, you can have several tower missions open at the same time. My last play, I had two HQ's and two towers open as I just never had the crew healthy enough to do the HQ's

There are two other threads on this but yes, many DE's are now there forever. They are just spawning in areas where you don't have coverage.

This is a vanilla bug sadly. Happened a lot on the maps with a lot of fire. I had this happen to me yesterday. Its really the same thing as when you spawn on the map in fire on haven defense missions.

Some mods can cause this to happen more often. Mods like Lifetime stats, Mod Config Menu (never had it happen to me) and a few others. I removed Lifetime stats and it seems to of stopped it. Its a memory leak issue. (Probably)

The doom tracker does require the liberation. I did the network tower, but I couldn't do the HQ due to the fact I needed to wait on teams to get back and being hunted by two UFO's. I had no doom counter until I got around to doing the HQ two months later.

The continents bonuses are still in effect. So you still need 1 or two in each area to get them.
