Asia only needs one more region than North America or Africa, it is no much more, because you need contact regions anyway.

For 2 you can use the button "see squad" in the mission screen. Any member actually infiltrating and temporary members added for this particular mission appears as an icon with a yellow mark under the squad name

It is the same in vainilla, was changed in a patch because "surfing" the countdown was, basically, an exploit. If you play vainilla before the patch probably didn't see it

The pods wasn't active, the vip was out of vision and the shinoby with the charge too. The other shinoby in conceal is the guy with vision to the enemies. The pods didn't activate when use the charge, because they don't see anybody. They enter in yellow alert and run for the vip instead of the noise
