Re: What to do about Overwatch?
In my mind, the burden of proof lies with the original poster, as he's asking what should we do about this "overwatch issue" (a la "what to do about overwatch). I'm not convinced that there's a problem with overwatch, as I seem to be doing just fine with it, and nothing I've read thu...

Re: Suggested fix to supply raid, troop column, HQ 0% infiltration abuse
UFOs tend to have a nastier composition; I've noted they almost always have an 8 man alien pod lead by a codex. And the elerium/alloy reward at the same seems the same as a normal supply raid. I wonder what happens if you let the timer go down - is it instant loss or is it one of those infinite rei...

Re: Suggested fix to supply raid, troop column, HQ 0% infiltration abuse
I think we can add UFO to the list of abuse, the timer is a non-issue with a shinobi and then it resumes to be just another supply raid with an even better map layout. Just did twice UFO 0% in a row.

Re: Suggested fix to supply raid, troop column, HQ 0% infiltration abuse
Nagul, your experience is a little less useful for comparison since you played it on veteran (AKA easy mode), but I do agree with your idea of making enemies on those missions stronger rather then more numerous. Seems like a good way to fix the 'fill the meatwagon' issue, although it wouldn't hurt ...

Re: Suggested fix to supply raid, troop column, HQ 0% infiltration abuse
Doing a 0% Supply Raid with no save scumming or other tricks means there's a decent chance someone on your team is going to die. Period. Sometimes you won't get a map with friendly elevation, sometimes you'll be screwed by pod starting positions. These are not as "easy" as is being implie...

Re: Feedback from my playthroughs
So...why is 0% Supply Raid a problem but I don't hear any complains about 0% Troop Columns? Do people do those at 0% as well? Or is there some factor which makes those different? I can only speak for myself, but I don't differentiate troop columns and supply raid missions, as I feel the only remark...

Re: Feedback from my playthroughs
I'm playing in veteran ironman and can confirm that 0% raid are way too easy compared to rewards. Most of the time I do them flawlessly, the worst I got so far was 2 soldiers lightly injured. The main problems with 0% raid : - Insanely high rewards : corpses are often worth way much than what you ar...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread
Please don't be obtuse. Did you rush forward recklessly to collect the Meld every time? Even when you knew you were outmatched, like raiding an early transport ship? Losing the Meld didn't mean losing the mission. You were encouraged to move quickly, but weren't forced to. It was up to you to decid...

Re: Reinforcement spam has completely ruined LW2 for me
The game is balanced around the assumption that players understand the mechanics and systems in play, as well as the fundamental idea that XCOM is a "massively outgunned" guerilla resistance but really doesn't communicate any of this very well at all. Many of the mechanics in particular, ...

Re: Bug? Hunker Works Against Melee?
So hunker was never set not to work against melee, even in vanilla. It's just being noticed because the aliens have it now. I'll think over whether I want to keep it or not. From a pure gameplay perspective, it shouldn't work against "flanking" (not attacking through cover) melee attacks....

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread
or get a perk Formidable early on, which basically makes the first ambush worthless since i like to open with grenades. I suggest you try it first before making a conclusion. If you aren't the world's unluckiest guy I think you are in for a surprise. And what exactly would that surprise be? If i us...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread
Yes LW1 had improving aliens aswell(and i loved that feature). But there are a lot of differences aswell. The most important thing about that was the fact that it went smooth as time went by(no rng involved). Second of all there already is an upgrading path in XCOM2 you have different tiers of the ...

Re: New and Improved Dark Events Thread
There are two over-arching points. 1. Permanent Dark Events are not fun. They remove fun. 2. Permanent Dark Events make you hurry and rush elements of the game. The opposite of a Long War. I would suggest that people try to solve for these two things in the solutions they present, or the root cause...

1.1 - Hunker Down bonii still apply against melee
Title says pretty much it.
LW2 1.1 without any other mod.
Tested it with a shinobi and a basic sword against a basic trooper (the sentry one).
Unfortunately I don't have save as I'm playing in Ironman but should easily be reproducible.
