Re: What's the chance of Find a Lead mission succeeding?

http://daydull.com/gaming/long-war-2-liberation-missions-identify-liberate-region-xcom-2/ Search the web. @ Unfawkable - this are quite important hard to detect missions. Okay, I understood that, so I amped up intel rebels when searching. But even when I have 8 rebels on intel, a scientist there an...

Re: What's the chance of Find a Lead mission succeeding?

Yes, after dwarfling advised, I noticed that FAL missions with only intel as a reward appear with very little time to infiltrate, 2-3 days usually.

Re: Just finished my Veteran campaign, any advice before starting Commander?

Research datapads (not needed on Commander) and expand. Build havens. Even with this you will be poor in April but not in May. Dig the Avenger and skip GTS / AWC for Workshop and dig more with gremlins. ( I never had time to put anything in them in first month - why to rush them?) First scientist i...

Re: What's the chance of Find a Lead mission succeeding?

What are you looking for exactly? - Lib 1 says Find a Lead with only intel and no intel package. - Facility Leads dead giveaway are rescue scientist with an intel package. Easier to detect on Facility regions (you know what they are when the pip ticks). I have however found them from common intel p...

What's the chance of Find a Lead mission succeeding?

I've done 3 FAL missions in 2 regions each, and I still don't have a lead. What is the percentage of an FAL mission actually giving you a lead?

Re: Just finished my Veteran campaign, any advice before starting Commander?

One thing you will find going up difficulties if you will find yourself more resource constrained. You don't just deck out everyone in the latest weapons and armour. In September my GOp squads still use a mixture of ballistic, laser, mag and coil. Armour items are bought gradually and prioritised o...

Re: Snapshot Sniper Questions

Why does he need HP? He shouldn't be seen with phantom. For the record, I turn all my snipers into officers. Well center mass works with pistols, so it's tempting as an alternative. All your snipers? Even DFA ones? They usually stay well outside the command range, I don't think that's very efficien...

Re: Snapshot Sniper Questions

You all just got me really interested in the holobot officer, I never could make and use a decent holotargeter sharpshooter, and it never did occur to me to make him into an officer. Now, what are the odds of getting a high mobility and HP sharpshooter with Quick Study :D

Re: Just finished my Veteran campaign, any advice before starting Commander?

Veteran -> Commander is mostly "oh right, AP rounds are good now" and "some specialist brings the shotgun for punching Drones out of our face". It's 'breakable' if your tactical game is good. Legendary is pretty much a completely different game. The extra HP on enemies shuts dow...

Re: My star solider this campaign

Can the same be done with regular solider skills? That's a toggle in the in-game options menus. I have played XCOM 2 since the very release date, and only now do I find out about this. Thanks. I kind of broke the AWC with the mod that lets you respec AWC perks and then .ini edited the mod to reduce...

Re: Snapshot Sniper Questions

Thanks for the info! If AMF applied to pistols that would be crazy and would definitely make it my number 1 choice for this build. I'm imagining fan fire / face off with center mass + AMF + BEO + Agression + Hunters Instinct. I was under the impression it only applied to primary weapons, though. Th...

Re: Implacable Rangers

regularly fight 16+ aliens at a time I force this kind of fight regularly at midgame on Commander. My ranger's job isn't to land amazing crits, it's to shoot 5 times per decisive turn while moving forward. That's not possible without Implacable (and Threat Assessment). BEO is a lot better when you ...

Re: Snapshot Sniper Questions

1. No, Double tap requires both actions to use, and refunds both actions (Albeit limited to shoot, overwatch). 2. Not with quickdraw since it costs 1 action and double tap requires 2, but you can use it with Lightning hands since it's a free action. 3. You lose the steady, steady bonus only counts f...

Re: Just finished my Veteran campaign, any advice before starting Commander?

Skip it and start Legendary? Because I feel like Commander isn't much of a step up from Veteran, and too many things don't carry towards Legendary. Sure you'll fail but at least you'll be learning how the game works at the highest difficulty. I've made the mistake of starting Commander the first ti...

Just finished my Veteran campaign, any advice before starting Commander?

I've finally beaten Veteran/Ironman on my 4th attempt. I finally feel like I know how to play the game, and past mid game (August/September) the difficulty was nearly trivial for me. I'll be moving onto Commander when I feel like playing again. Anyone has any advice what I should adapt in play style...

Re: My star solider this campaign

By the way, how do you make the AWC skills reveal? I'm going to try higher difficulty and I want the knowledge of AWC as an offset. Ini edit: XCOMLW_AWCPack.ini - ALWAYSSHOW = true It makes soldiers feel special way earlier. You will feel pain when the sniper who could have gotten Rapid Reaction di...

Re: Does anyone else train a bunch of suicide Shinobies?

I expect my Shinobi to wipe a whole pod, then get in position. Becomes impractical when M3s start showing up, but an absurdly fast-trained GSGT can do it regularly. This is precisely what I did, he kept Reapering throughout midgame. Practically won the campaign singlehandedly. And he didn't fall of...

Re: Mayhem mechanics?

Kill Zone reaction gunner is great, but they'll want more support than you're thinking. This is an ideal use case: - Have a mid-tier officer around with Lead by Example and Fire Discipline. - Squadsight pull a large pod such that they HAVE to cluster around a tiny cluster of cover. - Rocket that co...

Re: My star solider this campaign

Yup that doesn't get much better. Did you play with the perks revealed or did you take the grenade perk just to see what the 3rd tier one was? My rangers and gunners often end up with the most as a lot of perks work on them. Although I only like grenade perks on technicals, since they get early big...

My star solider this campaign

This is what the AWC gave my all-right overwatch gunner:

I thought about giving him superior perception to boot, but he rarely if ever misses the way it is. Even gave him a laser sight instead of scope. An insane murder machine is what he is.

Re: Does anyone else train a bunch of suicide Shinobies?

And yes, as has been pointed out by others, a Wraith GSGT shinobi trying to come out alive from a VIP assassination is a ridiculous risk. The thought exercise is useful though, as it can be adapted into real tactical situations - especially if the "VIP" is actually say, a Sectoid Commande...

Re: Does anyone else train a bunch of suicide Shinobies?

To the comments on non-suicide methods. Yes you could probably do it. Stealth perks, maybe H&R with shadowstrike, maybe whirlwind. With fancy wraith suits and high value PCS. Thing is you'd need to build a soldier around it. Which would be suboptimal much of the rest of the time. And it would s...

Re: Does anyone else train a bunch of suicide Shinobies?

I've actually contemplated how to get the solo shinobi out alive afterwards, concluding I'd want Wraith suit and Reaper + Hit&Run. I've never had a campaign go long enough to try it out. Whirlwind might be even better for that, combined with a wraith suit and superior mobility it could work. I ...
