I have a question about how the faceless intel works. If I swap soldiers or just take him off for gear checks etc. does that reset the faceless intel bucket? We already have pods so closely packed together that they can patrol into you while you're already under fire. That was the bad luck mechanic in LW1, and it did it's job well. Now we have that, plus free, full squad flanks on top of it. The total of the two is just too much of a coin flip at presen...

The Avatar project is running all the time, but in order to see the doom bar, you have to liberate a region.

I was referring more to the mid-game. I have had good success with 5 man squads in the early game where you can one or two shot most enemies. When you can't, you need to either go really small or really big. Have you gotten the GTS Tactics perks that reduce the infiltration times for 6-7 soldiers a...

I'm starting to find that sending 4-6 man squads to missions to be unfeasible. You either send 2-3 men to sneak to the objective, or you're doing 8-10 men huge firefights. 4-6 men squads are too big to stealth successfully but not enough firepower to kill things quickly. I'm starting to feel the DE+reinforcement pinch as well in the middle of Sept. I'm playing on Vet but I began this campaign on Rookie so that might've affected event timings but currently I have 2 +hp DE, a +1 armor DE and some others active, but it's those 3 DEs that make things harder to kill that...

If the kill VIP mission is a Lib3, you still activate Lib4, so it's not totally nothing. But that +1 to contact region limit is super useful though.

I find I'm taking a lot of support grenadiers on my "sneak and complete objective" missions where I am forced to take a small squad. There is almost always a pod or two guarding the objectives and trying to fight them with 4 dudes takes way too long, especially with possible reinforcements...

My suggestion wouldn't make this impossible, I don't suggest that picking up should take 2 AP. However, you would only have gotten one move instead of dash after picking up the VIP, which I find quite reasonable. This makes it even more difficult to kidnap VIPs though since knocking them out also takes an action. In my last Lib3 mission, I was able to move, punch, have my leader Command my puncher who then picks up VIP and run out of a sticky situation. Impossible to do if pick up isn't free.
