Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

It's ambiguous when you try to think too much about it. If you just accept that LW2 isn't trying to implement real physics and uses a simple dice roll instead to simulate the uncertainty of combat rather than simulate the combat i don't see why to-hit is ambiguous. It's just a representation of som...

Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

@Lord It comes down to a difference of opinion on how the mechanic should work between you and me, and that's fine. Objectively though, the problem with grazing ( and to hit in general ) is that its way too ambiguous, as I pointed out, which is why I kinda wished you would have quoted more of my pos...

Re: Proposal: Phase out graze for higher-accuracy shots

Lots of interesting points made, but I think Swift points out the obvious flaw of grazing shots, they already graze natively because of the damage range. If we were to be realistic here, there's at least two things we would need to take into consideration with grazing shots. 1. What does a 10% chanc...

Re: Is this a Bug or a Bad Joke?

Actually, after thinking about it, I think the best solution (forget who suggested it) is simply a message in the Commander's Quarters, along the lines of: "While ADVENT mostly acts responsively to XCOM activity, we should be sure to not become complacent in our operations. If ADVENT has high ...

Re: Is this a Bug or a Bad Joke?

In my own defense, I still get surprised by faceless whenever it happens ( well..usually the first few times per campaign ), because I actually don't spend much of my time being paranoid that every civilian I run into may be a threat. I get frustrated by hidden faceless too -- but I think the tempo...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Well, what I've been suggesting has nothing to do with Nexus Mods itself, it has to do with PI's uploading criteria. They just upload the entire mod, rather than giving an option to just download the files that were changed ( which means PI uploads a much ....much smaller zipped file to download ) ...

Re: Is this a Bug or a Bad Joke?

Same deal with faceless on lib 3--I didn't realize this was actually a thing until well afterwards when I saw it on youtube. You don't even necessarily encounter them on Lib3 unless you get the DarkVIP variant (sometimes it's Alien Relay instead). The number also scales, starting with only 2 of the...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Isn't it kinda moot to discuss how nexus or steam hould distribute their mods? If you want nexus to change their way, you would need to take it to nexus, not here. And I guess that wouldn't hit before 1.3 even in the case they accepted. Since we can't change either solution to our liking, we have t...

...so that we aren't parsing through every single thing checking to make sure it hasn't been updated. In that regard.. simply looking for the files "DATE of creation" has already given me enough proof of any updated variations. Doing two complex MODs like LAByrinth & qUIck_LW2 in my c...

Re: Is this a Bug or a Bad Joke?

I'd settle for just some way of knowing that Snares are a possible mission type ahead of time--maybe a list of mission types in the Commander HQ. I put the annoyance up there as just one of those things you have to learn about the hard way, and after you learn about it, it's never an issue again. I...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Just settle down. We've all put a lot of hours into our games, but it's just a game mate. Plus, starting a fresh will give the complete 1.3 experience. So just chill and no need to write ridiculous sized novels and getting worked up. Who's getting worked up, and who's writing novels? Are longer tha...

Hey man, I think you're over analyzing a bit. He's n...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Back on Topic: @Zloth, Sir, Davi I agree, this is a big concern for players who solely utilize / depend on Steam Workshop. The changes in 1.3 may not break their saves, rendering them corrupt / useless, but it will make some fundamental changes to classes / progression timing / etc. that could ruin...

Re: Why can't we carry alien corpses?

...you can make it so you have to piece together a few of a particular type of salvage to make it equal to a real one, which would make sense if you are say..salvaging several different pieces of a plasma rifle from different missions. You can "assemble" the parts of a dinosaur together o...

Re: 1.2 Campaign Feedback

Restricting hacking of enemy mech units to once per mission seems like a direct correlation to that kind of theme / thinking, "We can't think of a gameplay way to change this behavior..so we'll just cripple it outright". On that though, is there going to be a similar restriction on PSI sk...

Re: Why can't we carry alien corpses?

Animations are indeed glitchy with most aliens. If we take into account only the aliens that would be more or less around standard human in weight (makes no sense for XCOM soldier to be able to carry something like Muton or Andromedon etc) from my experience with the "extract corpses" mod...

Re: AP Rounds vs reworked Stiletto, Flechette and Needle Rounds [balance]

I think it's at the very least a good start, because it's actually creating a theory craft discussion, rather than an instantaneous "well, obviously it's junk". I have to agree with the sentiment that AP is going to be much more situational at the start than normal ( still yummy for DLC mi...

Re: Why can't we carry alien corpses?

I never understood the logic of "Well then we'd have to design expecting you to ___", or "Then Ill spend the end of my mission picking up all the bodies", or "Then you'll have more money than you should", etc. This would be like saying the inverse, "If you add pod ...

Re: 1.2 Campaign Feedback

I've had my own issues getting through a campaign, and trying to rationalize / accept some of the more blatant changes between LW2 / LW1 / Vanilla. ( I gave up in 1.1 ...hoping that further updates would address concerns ...though it's been months since then and we still don't have 1.3 even ) In gen...

Firstly, for THIS game, the Steam Workshop has all the mods and Nexus has maybe a tenth of them on it. Not the other way around. Secondly, what? You're able to edit the configuration files and everything when you get them via Steam Workshop. I don't even know where you could've gotten this informat...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.

Just to answer your question, I've been modding since DeHackEd for Doom 2. And what piracy has to do with Steam Workshop is that pirates can't use Steam Workshop, while they CAN use Nexus and smods.ru and such. So the only argument to not using Steam Workshop, if your concern is those file sizes on...

I'm actually starting to wonder about the size of this update, too. People near the end of their war aren't going to want to switch. A lot of peo...

Re: Continent bonuses: which are underpowered?

Pretty disappointed with the selection of bonuses. I mean..what happened between LW1_15 and LW2_1 ? In original LW ...you had dozens of options between starting picks for bonuses on campaign start, as well as captureable bonuses for continent coverage. LW2 gives less than a dozen? And generally spea...
