I agree with you. On paper it sounds like there is such grand variance that adds so much to the game. But when I'm playing the game, what I want to know is the likelihood of my 3-5 damage shot killing a guy with 3 hp. So, functionally, it makes for an incredibly frustrating experience.

LW2 just needs CC in it. It shouldn't be a mod at all. Mods have conflicts at times, or stop getting updated, and many LW2 players just aren't comfortable modding the game beyond installing the expansion. That's not practical on most missions due to the turn timer and frequent reinforcements after exposure, at least on any difficulty that holds my interest.

I'm in total agreement with you. The stealth mechanic was my least favorite part of Xcom2, and I am a bit disappointed with how much it is emphasized in the mod. I think there is an issue here when you carefully set up a line of soldiers, suppress and flash the enemy in front of you, and just randomly get an entire pod flanking every single one of your guys. That's too much bad luck in one turn to overcome, if you're already engaging a pod.
