Re: Feedback from no <50% infil campaign

I had 9 scientists in August (one of whom I purchased in April). I'm afraid I didn't write down when I got them, but I think I had 5 at the start of June? I also did Basic Research as my second research project. I did have a power coil on the 3rd floor which helped. Whoa. 9 scientists in August sou...

Re: "Protect Data tap" missions seem unbalanced

I did a ton of these missions because I just went max intel over nearly the whole world in lategame and never hid anyone, and the problem seems to lie in the extreme variance in difficulty based on pod spawn locations and map generation. A lot of times this mission was a cakewalk. Enemies didn't sho...

Re: Technical Love

I think the issue is that fire is too strong in LW2. Therefore they made the fire-using class really unreliable to keep it balanced. As is, flamer Techs are very RNG to use. But if they were consistent they'd be OP because they'd be the one and only correct way to activate the main pod. Lategame te...

Re: Officer training times and using squads

So here's my suggestion: Officer skills should be learned instantaneously or at least a lot faster. This would allow them to be more present in the field, which in turn would lead to stronger squad identity. To prevent officer spam, you could: a) Keep the requirement of some tube-time to *become* a...

Re: Weapon upgrades

Autoloader and ext mags were pretty high priority for my Rangers and Gunners. Since they essentially give you extra actions and shots you otherwise could not have taken due to reloading, they are super valuable. If I try to do some napkin math... Adv. Scope on a gunner who has an average of 70% hit ...

Re: Yellow Alert Offensive Action

Does nobody else think this is excessive? Perhaps you should be expected to be able to take some hits, but the fact that pods can run into you, scamper and THEN fire means that almost every pod can have 3 moves against you on activation. The aliens and XCOM operate under asymmetrical rules, and thi...

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

I don't really like the idea of just removing infiltration from some missions, or putting some missions into set categories. Infiltration is an interesting mechanic in that the player gets to make several decisions to get to what they want. How many soldiers, how long to keep them infiltrating for, ...

Re: Graze Issue

The number of grazes and misses actually does surprise me. It would be due to dodge, but most enemies don't have dodge as seen here http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/ADVENT_Unit_Stats_(LW2) But maybe the number that do (and are there any dodge TDEs?) are enough to account for these stats. Someone c...

Re: Must-have Soldier Perks

A lot of perks in the OPs list I personally do get on almost every solider of the class. But I don't think they are automatic picks. People build soldiers for different roles. So within a certain role some of them become autopicks, but not for every possible use of the class. You might get more cons...

Re: Recovering from loss

4) Always have some missions available that are suited to lower level soldiers. I like this because it serves a double purpose. One you can train up low ranks. Secondly, you can send your high ranks and have fun just rolling over Advent. With LW2 flat difficulty curve (which I really like) it's som...

Re: Campaign Feedback from Playthrough

LW2 is great in that it forces you to have depth of roster, it’s not enough to have A and B teams, but C and D as well. One of the challenges is how to train up your C and D teams. I agree that training up soldiers lategame can be better, but are you including stealth teams as C and D teams? Or do ...

Re: L/I post-gampaign report + some feedback

Arguably my best run but i lost it all in october Forge, tried to stealth my 10man team across the bridge when things "looked" quiet and got ambushed by half of the map in 2 turns, including archon king, one of the most painful losses of my long war career. Damn that's brutal. And I agree...

Dunno if this is of interest for class discussion, since it mostly just reflects my personal playstyle, but here are the mission/kill stats from my legend run. Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

I often have a Shinobi scout that I don't want to use on the first pod or 2, which means I'm functionally down a man for those first 2 fights, which can make it longer. Yes this is a good point. Grenades pulling more enemies to you isn't a serious problem IMO if you're planning on killing everythin...

Re: Best single class team

The entire campaign? Oof. I'd probably go with gunners but not being able to use an SMGs means trying to do stealth missions is probably right out the window and your ability to scout would be severely compromised. But they have crowd control, aoe, cover destruction, very high damage, and are good a...

Oh, was hoping it was 75% max at 25% HP and didn't improve thereafter.

If they have to be at 33% HP for a gauranteed proc, I don't like this ability at all. It's uses are basically...hive queens. Or rolling the dice if you feel lucky, I guess. I don't like rolling the dice with melee characters :?

So is the additional chance proportional to missing HP? As in, missing 50% of HP, 50% additional chance?

Seems...ok. Sadly sectopods will blow you up if you do this to them :/

Re: Are Flashbangs overpowered

Nerfing flashbangs will require a nerfing of a lot of enemies first. Game would be insanely hard if flashbangs were nerfed, especially early game when you don't have nearly the amount of other tools and you still have to deal with grenadiers/rocketeers/sneks. Maybe it is a design issue that acid/po...

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

Let's go with the higher numbers and say I can kill a pod of 4 in 3 turns on average On average would suggest that it sometimes might take 4 or 5 turns. I feel like 3 turns is the absolute max unless your guys are dying, so the average should be lower. Taking 3 turns probably means your squad is so...

A liberated haven with 13 guys on supply and an engineer is over 500 supply a drop, so 2-3 liberated zones should be enough. However if supply raids get nerfed going for more might become a higher priority. So after you liberate your first zone target 1-2 more places for ASAP liberation to be your s...

There are so many counters to tac sense though. You don't have to take low % shots against it. You can disorient/burn/stun to remove tac sense, or use one of the many damage sources that hit automatically. Isn't Archon/Gatekeeper innate defense much worse?

Re: Just finished the game, some final missions feedback

You know what. You're right. Fuck the players. Suggestion Avatar Some cool ideas, but I worry about making the Avatar offensively too powerful and gaining power over time. Then it leads to very binary "kill it on the turn it spawns or lose" kind of gameplay. I like the idea of duplicating...
