Re: Do WOTC mods work with Long War 2?
Any mod dedicated for WotC will not work with Long War 2. Essentially base Xcom2 and WotC are two separate games, they have separate .exe files as well. When you install WotC a launcher is added to the game where you can choose whether to fire up the base game or the expansion. You can also have sep...

Re: Discussion of current Legendary campaign
As you noted, there will be plenty of missions to go by only with 2 regions contacted. In theory it is feasible to liberate your first region around the end of May, but I say 4 months to give myself some leeway just in case something goes terribly wrong with the RNG on Geoscape or Battlescape. Takin...

Re: Discussion of current Legendary campaign
Hey, take a break every now and then ! I am currently playing Long War 1 (final version) on Impossible and have made a house rule to play between 2 to 5 missions per day, depending on their length. Thus I can finish a month in 3 days and still enjoy my time with the game. It has the side-effect of a...

Re: Discussion of current Legendary campaign
I do not know whether you have played Long War 1 on Impossible difficulty, the Geoscape gameplay is almost the same in Long War 2. You have so many things that you need to build and acquire in the first 3 months and all of them are more expensive and slower to build than compared to Commander. Laser...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC
Long War 2 War of the Chosen edition will be essentially a mod to Long War 2, which from my understanding is managed by 2K concerning intelectual property rights. I am not sure what rights 2K have wavered concerning the distribution and assets of Long War 2, that is what Pavonis should know. Nonethe...

Re: Announcement regarding LW2+WotC
They can not launch a campaign for a mod to an intelectual property they do not own. Technically they do not have the rights to Long War 2 as far as I understand it, because 2K has commissioned and managed the mod from the onset.
Because of that even donations for Long War 2 are not accepted.

Re: Typical numbers of soldiers may/june
I usually have between 35 and 40 soldiers, including one Spark, at the end of May. You will need all the manpower you can get, but I contact 2, mostly 3 regions, so I can safely field 3 full squads out there and still have some be on training and recuperating from wounds. I am playing on Commander c...

Re: That advent assault on liberated region
Well, the mission is more about tactics than equipment. Granted, being better armed and prepared helps, but you need to focus on the beacon and if on a roof, just destroy the floor with explosives which will automatically destroy it. I would still say the Sharpshooter tactic is the safest, you just ...

Re: That advent assault on liberated region
Use at least 2 Sharpshooters and a stealthied Shinobi to have sight on the beacon. Then just land 2 shots per turn on it and it should go down relatively fast. Position the rest of your squad accordingly to stop any incoming reinforcements. Overwatch specialists can help, as most of the mission you ...

Re: Can we surround alien/advent strategically?
Yep, if you surround a region the only way to reinforce it is via UFO. However, there are 3 different types of UFO, so while in theory you might try to shoot down UFOs and hit Troop columns hard, in practice you will not be able to detect all of them. You should be able to reduce the strength of the...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
@ Tac1 The Sawn-Off Shotgun works in the very early game as it will one shot almost anything from close range. From mid-game onwards it will barely one shot most of the aliens coming toe-to-toe with you, so you are better off to use perks that improve your damage or Crit chance (Deadeye, Rupture, Cl...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
Actually, I always pick Close and Personal for Crit Rangers. That perk begins to shine when you start encountering a lot of melee enemies. Those units by definition can not be flanked and get really close to you, so any extra crit chance against them is more than welcome. Oh, look, that Berserker is...

@ Jarno Mikkola
Yep, you can change it in the .ini files but there is no ingame way to influence it. That is what I meant by "you can not modify it"
@ Dwarfling
They did update the damage in the last patch from what I recall. Now it should kill every type and tier of Advent soldier.

Re: Why do Shinobi's get 5 hacking per level?
There are two separate chance numbers - the first is to actually hit your target, which is a flat 70% and can not be modified, or at least I have never seen it modified. The second is the actual Hack chance when the blades connect with your target and you access the system. Then and there your hack ...

Re: Trouble with WOTC Psi Op missing 'LocFriendlyName' error
In general LW2 and War of the Chosen use two separate .exe files. LW2 uses the original game, while War of the Chosen uses the expanded .exe file with all the new optimisations and fixes. There is no way LW2 can overwrite any files used by War of the Chosen. The main question is, have you activated ...

Re: Why do Shinobi's get 5 hacking per level?
A Stealth Shinobi is also great on 2-3 man Stealth team for Jailbreak and Hacking missions. He can sneak in, hack the objective, then get out and back into Stealth. Thus, from time to time you will be able to get those extra rewards from hacking the objective.

I have tested it in War of the Chosen (where it is available only on Rangers) and it procs on Overwatch shots as well. Yep, it can be great if you can crit on an Overwatch shot.

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
@Tac1 Long War 2 was designed and balanced to favour the AI with the RNG and put you at a disadvantage, masking this again, as RNG. The XCOM weapons were nerfed in terms of damage, ammo and stats. The AI units always seems to have 1 HP more than the max damage your soldiers can do in a single shot a...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
As I suspected - the graze band makes a huge difference in how the AI play out their turns. Do note that you can remove Overwatch with a lot of things - grenades, Suppression, special attacks that do damage etc. You are not obliged to always have an Assault that can run through the shots at hand. Th...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
@Tac1 What I think is the crust of the issue is that you either leave visible a soldier with low Defense/Dodge (making it a prime target for the aliens) or you have too many visible for them on their turn and they get trigger-happy. As pointed out, if your soldier has high Defense, the AI will eithe...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
Yep, that is the other big downside of the graze band - it makes the AI more bold, turning impossible shots into low-probability ones. By analysing I mean just that single mission and what you could have done differently to limit bad RNG and enemy shots. It helped me learn to identify when to hunker...

Re: First death, incredibly soured.
You need to analyse how you ended up in the situation in the first place. All those grazes you landed could have been better spent as actions with some critical examination of the battlefield. Also aliens will never take a 2% shot so I am not sure if Perfect information is right in that case. You ne...

Re: Trouble identifying enemies from sound
You have the visual cue (yellow soundwaves) when a pod/alien moves from/in that direction. The loud roaring sound is made by Berserkers. Mutons have a similar one, but it feels more synthetic (due to the masks I presume). Vipers make a slithering sound, close to the one a big reptile makes sliding t...

Re: Chryssalid Queen poison damage
Hey, The thing I am not sure is whether the Hive Queen applies 1 or 2 types of poison. For example Vipers apply normal poison which usually does 1 per turn. Chryssalids apply Incubation poison, which is about 2-3 per turn. I have yet to meet the Hive Queen in game, but from you are describing it see...
