The reason your soldiers shout like that when you call the skyranger is just because that's their vanilla voice lines for doing so, where it's what you do to run away from a mission instead of what you do to complete it.

I'm curious what determines avatar progress? Is there some randomness to it? How many Alien Research Facilities did you do? In my own campaign the avatar timer was just a complete non factor. If this is the bug I think it is, it's caused by giving a soldier a PCS in the mission loadout screen instead of giving it to them in the barracks, so you can do that instead to avoid it. This doesn't sound like what I know the LW2 'snare' mission to be, but it does sound like an Additional Mission Types mission ('Neutralize VIP on PR Tour') - do you have that mod installed?

It doesn't need to be a failed mission, and it doesn't even need to be rookies - this is the same bug that causes soldiers purchased at the black market to level up super fast, according to tracktwo.

So, here's a thought. Instead of adjusting the missions that are imbalancing the game due to dropping so many corpses... What if corpses themselves had diminishing returns? Units with special names are a little confusing, yeah. The Guardian is actually a tier 2 (or 3? But I think 2) Sentry I believe, the Scout being a different unit that is introduced a little while into the campaign.

Good to know. So Specialists and Shinobi have a better mutiplier I take it, while Rangers and Gunners are expected to work for their levels? That would explain some of my roster given my love of stealth. :) They do, though only slightly (5.9 for Specialists, dunno about Shinobi but I think maybe 5....
