mission completion exp is HUGE compared to kill exp. Especially when advent strength grows and there are more enemies on the map.

It's normal for soldiers before sergeant to rank up very quickly when advent strength grows as long as your squad isn't too large.

if your sharpshooter has pistol as secondaries, it looks like you have some mod conflicts causing vanilla sharpshooter to appear in your LW2.

yeah it's likely buggy because the way skullmining works in vanilla is that it just straight executes the target if it is successful, not matter how much hp it has. My guess is that interaction is still kind of lingering there causing some weird things to happen. nope that's the vanilla behaviour. ...

nothing really have cost to advent because there's no more alien resources, things are purely based on vigilance and force level now. the only "cost" is their activity limit so they can't do UFO reinforce if they are trying to do a retaliation. this is vanilla behaviour, you can't stop andromedons from using acid blobs short of killing it or stunning it.

yup it uses a wrong way to implement the free action thing, it should be cost 1 + free cost instead of cost 0 + free cost + turn ending since the real overwatch will end the turn already

the hunker bonuses don't check if an attack is melee, so hunker do treat melee attacks as if they are ranged (if you flank them before your fleche you can bypass these bonuses)
