Re: AP Rounds vs reworked Stiletto, Flechette and Needle Rounds [balance]
I expect they'll probably work best at the coil tier. Starting with armor pierce 1 makes the math a lot better for +1/+2 DMG vs armor pierce 2. It seems likely to be a lot harder to make the sale at other weapon tiers.

Re: Holotargeter animation should be shorter
I don't know that it's really high on my priority list but I always grimace when I decide to use the holotargeter. Making the animation shorter would be a nice quality of life upgrade.

Re: Is There Any Reason to Develop Plasma?
Plasma is nice in combination with AP ammo. Ignoring 3 armor is often overkill but the bonus damage comes through. It is also nice for burning through relays and the few naturally unarmored targets that show up.

Re: Sniper: AMF vs Double Tap
I think the boost to minimum damage is a key point in amf's favor. One shot, one kill is great but if your range goes down to 7, then there are a lot of enemies that will die to an average damage shot but live through all your low rolls. Add and in and you get a lot closer to a kill on minimum damag...

Re: If you could "rig" the AWC...
Special shots not being usable at squadsight range and serial only refunding action points if the first shot of double-shot abilities kill are both from vanilla if I am not wrong. I didn't report it as a bug but it's a little hard to tell if it is a vanilla issue or not. Vanilla doesn't give you ma...

Re: If you could "rig" the AWC...
I landed rupture and chain shot on my shooty holotarget sniper. Neither are usable at squadsight range and so far it looks like serial won't give me back the action I use for them (also true on my shooty shinobi who landed chain shot and took serial). A little disappointing but once you know, you ca...

Re: Your general purpose squads?
My generalist squads depend upon who is wounded at the time. I have 5 full squads, but sometimes I have to mix and match. Ideally, I go with a DFA sharpshooter, a specialist officer, and a mix of 3 Gunner/ranger/grenadiers. Maybe a technical if there's room. And a shinobi scout if there's room for a...

Re: Usefulness of Plasma Grenades/Medics
Discussing medics: what do you all think of field medic on a shooter (ranger, assault, sniper, etc) as an AWC perk? Worthless? Enables you to run without a specialist? Useful backup for a specialist on high body count missions like supply raids, psi gate, and waterworld? I had the fortune to roll fi...

Re: Questionable Perks
I'll say this for bladestorm. It's not nearly as terrible as flush. Because I was a nub, I built my second shinobi with bladestorm and it actually came in handy a few times. It was pretty effective at keeping chrysalids off of him and I do fleche a bad guy, it's about 50/50 that they'll trigger blad...

Re: Are mags better than lasers
It depends on the enemies you are fighting. If the extra damage knocks an attack off the numerous of attacks it takes to kill enemies, then mags are worth it. If it doesn't, then lasers are better. Now, enemies get tougher as the game goes on so the calculations will change. I went with lasers initi...

Re: Wet Work Balance
Last time I had an extract VIP mission, it said it was light but I found at least 3 pods of 4 aliens camping within a blue move of the extraction point. Plus one more on patrol, a turret, and a pair of chrysalis's due to a dark event. My A team might have been able to fight through it but probably n...

Re: Questionable Perks
In defense of killzone for specialists: if you have a decent aim specialist, you can give them an expanded magazine and hair trigger and-especially if they picked up shooty AWC perks like grazing fire or center mass- turn a pod cracking manuever like a rocket or saturation fire into a pod deleting m...

Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)
There's a lot of exaggeration on both sides in the grenadier debate. The control difference between a support grenadier and a damage grenadier before sting grenades is: what kind of grenade gets a bonus use, whether you get a free action support grenade, and whether your flashbangs effect robots. A ...

Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)
I think you are underestimating rapid fire as a shinobi perk. Yes, it takes a long time to get there, but when you do, it is very useful on stealth shinobi for two reasons: 1. Destroy the relay missions. The cheesy way to do this according to forum wisdom is to take a sharpshooter, have the shinobi ...

Re: How are people liberating regions so fast?
Just because you can liberate regions quickly in Long War 2 doesn't mean you have to. I started off not understanding a bunch of aspects of Long War 2 (didn't run stealth missions, didn't appreciate some of the good perks and selected some really bad ones, built a workshop first and didn't get gueri...

I'm not sure how many POIs there are. The first two I found gave me resistance mecs. Since then (1.2 patch--maybe even 1.1 patch) I've just seen the ammo+grenade PoI. Gave me a bunch of ammo I wouldn't have bothered making in the proving grounds but which are interesting options but a few other rewa...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting
I took rapid targeting on my first sharpshooter and he's never been terrible due to steady hands from AWC and high native aim (now that he's a master sergeant major look forward to playing with his AWC chain shot and rupture abilities) but my dfa snipers have been more effective level for level and ...

Re: What classes/starting stats should choose for officers?
I've had some good success with specialists. I have a few different specialist builds I've been using and though things change with AWC abilities (I got grazing fire on one, chain shot or rapid fire would make a big difference), I find there are only a few times that I don't have spare actions for t...

Re: Avatar facility missions
I completed the blacksite mission with a 3man stealth team. Got in, threw the flare, reconcealed, planted the x4, tried skullmining one of the enemies then commanded my 3rd ninja to get back to the evacuate zone in the evacuate turn. As for improving stealth gameplay on these missions, I think that ...

Avatar facility missions
In vanilla, the Avatar facility missions were very easy to stealth, plant the x4 and escape without firing a shot. From the mission description, it seems that they're more like the HQ assault in LW2. Is this right? And do you usually need a full 10 man team or can it be done with 5-6 or 7-8?

Re: My humble input on the Blacksite mission
I don't mind that you can stealth the blacksite mission. Maybe it should be harder (a hackable lock on the back door would require a demo charge or hack which would break conceal and make it a bit harder assuming a sectopod doesn't just randomly walk through the wall like it did on mine). But if you...

Strength in the region is 2 or 3, so I guess it's not supposed to be a trap mission. Still, it seems like crazy good rewards. We'll see how it turns out.
