Re: Early missions with short timers, a failing strategy
With respect, it doesn't seem that way - just before I posted I did a mission where I didn't fire a shot and 5 rookies got squadie levels from the plane ride. Although it has only been one time I have been absolutly sure i have not killed anything, but for sure I didn't make any kills on that missi...

Re: [Feeback] Leaving LW2: my reasons
(Stuff) 1) I don't understand why you think LW2 merges strategy and RPG genres. It doesn't do anything to this effect that is not inherent in all XCOM games. And even granting that it does for the sake of argument, I don't understand your point. You're upset that there are too many ways to customiz...

Re: what do the mission objectives mean?
I think the OP's point is really that it's totally counterintuitive that you should want ADVENT to send more troops towards you. There is not enough flavor text in the game to explain why that would be worth doing.

Re: An alternative way of handling infiltration and mission types
At the moment, (especially at the beginning) almost *every* mission is a stealth mission, a) because it is not only possible, but preferable to do it the stealthy way, and b) because a large chunk of missions is only detected with so few days left that stealth is your only option. So, to no small d...

Re: An alternative way of handling infiltration and mission types
Well, for me, it's actually zero times, being quite familiar with LW1 and XCOM in general. Congratulations, your game penis is larger than mine, and nothing challenges you. If you're actually familiar with XCOM in general you know that the Firaxis reboot games utterly destroyed important game mecha...

Re: An alternative way of handling infiltration and mission types
May I remind you that you do a "proper" fighting mission *literally* on day 1? That's possible, reasonable and very survivable, even with a squad made up entirely of rookies with standard equipment - and, most importantly, it is fun. The completely sneaky way of playing is fun in small do...

Re: An alternative way of handling infiltration and mission types
I also like the idea of ADVENT potentially having concealment against you in low-infil situations (although I'd limit it to REALLY low infil, like 0-10%) That would really amp up the tension, especially early game, and make me seriously consider what constitutes "enough time remaining" wh...

Re: Overwatch Creep and Pod Mechanics
The more I think about it, actually, the more I think concealment needs to be broken into two different concepts. 1. Does the enemy know that the zone is hot. (Alert) 2. Does the enemy specifically know how many soldiers you have fielded and where they are. (Spotted) LW2 has attempted to separate th...

Re: Feedback: The separate rolls for Dodge and Crit make the game a terrible mess
Dodge and crit are opposite ends of a damage roll spectrum, not qualities with the potential to overlap. The separate roll system creates too many extraneous possibilities and therefore skews the probability of the final results in a meaningless way. The separate roll system only makes sense if dodg...

Re: Overwatch Creep and Pod Mechanics
I get the impression that what you want is a system not where everyone is active, but one where only a single pod can be active at a time. You want to be able to play aggressively without triggering additional enemies. This is how vanilla XC2 works. It's called downthrottling. The game lets you eng...
