Quick and Dirty questions

How does this option interact with special missions, such as Council missions, or things like Portent? Also, what about Alien bases, Xcom Base Defense, Exalt Base Assault, and general Exalt missions? Do those missions have appropriately reduced aliens/operatives as well? If not, is there some way I ...

Re: Inquiry; Select prior perks.

I like this idea (which is partially implemented in WotC), because it opens up many interesting possibilities for creating soldiers.
Balancing might be an obstacle to overcome, but overall, I would be all for it.

Re: Crippling RNG, no agency.

Honestly, my problem is that massive difference between hits given vs hits taken. When I actually do hit, I usually do alright. I seem to have bad luck with rolling 3s on tier-1 weapons, rarely seeing that nice 5 or a crit, but it's sufficient at least. The problem is rolling on a 92% for the fifth...

Reapers in Long War

So, i am sure everyone will agree that having reapers with their 1-tile detection would make stealthing way too easy in LW. So how about a simple fix? A soldier who is not in cover does not benefit from any tile reduction, and can be spotted at full distance by any enemy. This will prevent soldiers ...

Re: Crippling RNG, no agency.

I would recommend that you install the "Reliable Damage" mod, which effectively removes this problem. It causes damage to become more normalized. As an example, if you have a 50% chance to hit a enemy with a 3-5 damage spread, RD will translate that into 1.5-2.5 damage you will cause (hit ...

Re: Last on in July, wonder what happened

WotC is pretty good, much better than Vanilla. New classes are cool , and not really that OP, unlike some ppl think. The Chosen make for a fun distraction. Considering how Lw elevated vanilla, a LW that incorporates WotC should be nothing short of legendary. Havent played 1.5 yet, so I cannot comment.

Should there be "stupid" soldiers?

Assuming that LW eventually incorporates WotC, should some soldiers have a stat for Combat Intelligence that is below Standard? With Not Created Equally, intelligence is certainly a stat that matters, since smarter troops obviously could become better than dumber ones. So, should Standard be the low...

Re: Fire Grenade Tunning

I agree, the whole problem stems from LW change to fire, in how it completely disables the target. Anything that can do that will always be really, really good. Yes, reverting back to vanilla, and in that case, maybe give them more AOE, since they don't disable anymore. This would leave the Freezing...

Arguments Regarding Squad Upgrades & More

Warning - Incoming Wall of Text. One of the things that has changed from Vanilla to LW was the complete removal of all "squad" upgrades; that is upgrades that change an item that is otherwise infinite (like medkits) to a better one, and making all researched items and weapons purchased one...

Re: Please rethink this!

Completely agree with the OP. Adding RNG is always bad, as it takes away control from the player. If we want to encourage diversity, then improve the other grenades. Aliens are quite dangerous as they are, they definitely don't need buffs. Even if you wanted to nerft fire grenades, RNG is not the an...

So much cool gear, unusued.

Coming near an end to a campaign, I realize just how much cool tech there is there ends up just being useless. Which is a shame, because late game, once you have lots of resources (i'm a Veteran scrub, I don't go anywhere near Legendary), you want to test drive all the shiny toys. But many of the la...

Mind Controlled aliens do not drop corpses?

I was doing a Troop column, and mind controlled an Advent Shieldbearer with Domination. Said shieldbearer was killed by flanking shot, but after the mission, I was not given any shieldbearer corpses. I don't remember looking for the "corpse dropped" message you normally get when you kill s...

Because they are robots. These stuns, presumably, were designed against humans, to keep the peace.

Is Drone Stun supposed to work on machines?

Basically that's the question. I have seen drones target, and even successfully stun other drones, turrets, and SPARKS. Is this an oversight, where the drone stun doesn't check (because you weren't supposed to ever control it), or is this intended?

Seems like the stun should not affect machines.

Re: tactical vest vs Statis Vests

Stasis seems better to me, it is essentially +12 hp, if you don't get one-shotted. Sadly, Ablative does not use armor, which means you have to take wounds if armor is doing its job. But stasis can help keep your hp high, so that if you do get shot, it brings you back to full, which means less time i...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Firaxis adding the fatigue system is basically them acknowledging that LW way is better. Sending the same soldiers out over and over again leads to very small rosters, and a single squadwipe means campaign = RIP. It does seem redundant in LW though, since we already have infiltration, curious to see...

Re: "Experienced" rebels on full retal missions

I don't see why they shouldn't always carry guns. It seems odd than during a full invasion, not a single rebel things to grab a gun. Even a handful of them packing laser or mag weapons could make a large difference. And it would make the solider level ups more useful.

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Given that Chosen adds quite a lot, including new mechanics, it is unlikely that there will be LW version right away. That said, given that LW has support from Firaxis, I cannot imagine this expansion not being integrated eventually. But it might take more than one patch to get the balancing right. ...

Re: Tactic vs SuperHeavy MECS

If available, the Frost Grenade is an effective countermeasure, giving you an extra turn. Shredder ammo on a fast-firing soldier should bring the armor down fast. Haywire to stun, though that is sadly unreliable (even less so if you want to take it over). or, if you don't mind giving up Boosted Core...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

It stands to reason that Firaxis would have intended for Chosen to integrate with Long War. After all, Long War is a big selling point for the game (it was the only reason I even got Enemy Within). I think we can reasonably assume that PI knew about the expansion ahead of time, and perhaps were work...

I attempted a Haywire on a frozen MEC, and it was successful. However, the Mec then thawed out, and was not shutdown, and sent a micro missiles at my squad. Is it possible that a frozen character automatically is unaffected by other effects? So the MEC essentially "recovered" from the shut...

Re: The chosen!!!

Not much was revealed, so don't worry too much. Three new classes, new enemies, bosses (not sure if they will be like the Alien Rulers). Of course, we all want to know how PI intends to handle it, since that would bring the total classes to 11, if they just added them in. What I am most curious abou...
