I cant give you more then this tip:
Listen to the sounds the aliens make when you discover the pod. Those are the sounds they make as hints.

Re: Back to LW2

Hopefully an announcement comes soon on the front of, "We're getting close to an initial release of LWotC" Personally I'd rather see an announcement of "we're looking for associates to help us make that initial release of LWotC so our core team can focus on Terra Invicta". A qua...

Re: How important is mobility?

Using my shinobi to scout only. I have him perched on a building overlooking 2 alleys where I know 4 pods roam and I am using my guys on the other side to activate one pod at a time. And thats why I hope that reapers or at least reaper mechanics gets into the game. A scout that can help out and sta...

Re: How important is mobility?

Shinobis, despite moving a lot, IMO don't need that much mobility, because you need to be careful not to move too far into unknown territory anyway. Also since they almost never shoot, they always get an SMG for extra mobility. I disagree with this. Middle tree shinobi are great flankers. Move to f...

Resistance ring in LWotC

So just to put up an idea, if you dont have it already. It would be a shame to loose out on the mechanic of the resistance ring. The LW version of it could be that you have the selection of covert ops each month (same as now), send a team of 2-3 (same as now) and then play it like either an ambush m...

Re: Reapers in Long War

Don't you dare removing Shinobi. Reapers should be out. What is next Superman? Sniper? All classes for one overpowered ? Why? Why ? Removing armor piercing from grenade is change (better). Removing Shinobi = why ? Heeey, all good man. :) But the thing is the hero classes have a fun flavour to them ...

Re: Reapers in Long War

Whaaa? When you get the "if you kill you dont use stealth" talent they are the death from shadows. They just flank and finish. Nerfing stealth and boosting combat makes them too much like shinobi. I think they should remove shinobis entirely and replace them with reapers, tbh. With all th...

Re: Reapers in Long War

Yeah I would reduce their detection range. Their mobility is pretty over the top as well. If I was doing reapers from scratch, I would get rid of the %chance to detect modifier, and instead go with something more skill based, although I really don't know how to make reapers more skillful and less &...

Re: So Johnny and the devs ...

Yes, on occasion I've used some ideas I've seen on here. Nothing so grand as a weapon; more along the lines of "how about making this perk do this." We've also recruited some internal playtesters from these forums and used their ideas liberally. Thanks for replying Johnny (or do you prefe...

Re: WotC LW2 Idea: Sparks

Make the Defence Matrix actually useful. All sparks should drop a data core when they die, and if a soldier can pick it up and take it away from the mission, then it can be "inserted" into a fresh SPARK (spend 3-4 days tube time in the defence matrix) and that spark will gain all the abil...

Re: So Johnny and the devs ...

Guys, lets not drift away from the question. Do the devs get inspiration from these forums?
I am not asking them to "make this idea a reality" and I am aware that if you have an idea that you really want in LW you can make your own mod. Just if they get inspired from these forums. :D

So Johnny and the devs ...

...I am curious about something.
Do you guys ever get inspiration for classes, class changes or any mechanic changes from the forums?
Like you read a post someone made of a class or weapon and say "Hey, thats a good idea, we should use that in LW!".
Thanks. :)

Re: A message to the LW2 team

LW2 is great. It introduced some awesome ideas that I am sorry Firaxis didnt implement in WotC (like infiltration and squads for example). And WotC introduced some excellent ideas like covert ops and orders that I hope will be in LWotC. Right now, if I would have to pick ... LW by slimmest of margin...

Re: How would you want the Skirmisher adapted for LW2?

Ah, guaranteed breakthrough tech for the no-laser/coil weapons. That would work - for the Spark too. Which brings to question: should those breakthrough techs exist for the base weapons? Why bother building Mag rifles if you made Laser rifles about as good as Mags? For effects. Every weapon has the...

Re: Future of shinobi?

The point of Specialist and the skulljack brings up a point though... I have always had a craving for a melee hacker class that doesn't have the Gremlin, and instead has a specialized Skulljack. The two primary tree ideas being one that focuses on being a brutal assassin ripping through advent sold...

Not gonna quote your whole post Steelflame but I agree on many things you said. However - if I were merging classes ... Gunner + Technical = Heavy. A suppression tree, a "crit" tree and a flamethrower tree. Why shouldnt they have a choice to use cannon or flamethrower? After all, assault h...

Future of shinobi?

Heres the thing ... Someone once mentioned that if the new hero classes were just added to LW 2 there would be 13 classes and that it would be too much. And yeah, I agree, more so when you see how shinobi and reapers fill the same role. So what will happen to shinobi? Dont get me wrong, I love them ...

Re: wotc idea: technical upgrade

IMHO I would that they go the other way. Merge technical with gunner. The basic idea is to turn the middle tree into technicals flame tree. Give gunners a chance to equip flamethrowers (the assets and animations are now in game) and let them choose their weapon of choice (like assault and shinobi ca...

Re: Rapid holotargeting and SMG?

So what do you think about having an extra trait on rapid holotargeting? Add "Can equip SMGs/rifles." I just added rifles to the sharpshooter class in the ini files (which also adds SMGs.) Then I equip my holo-sharps ("spotters") with either rifles or SMGs and my regular snipers...
