Re: LW2 Vanilla Psi Ops problem (bug ?)

Working as intended. There's a hidden dependency tree (check the wiki) and by design you can't pick everything.

Re: How long until you moved on?

"Move on" is vague. There's "I don't play it anymore", there's "I don't check in on the community anymore" and finally there's "I don't remember the mechanical details anymore". Stage 1 of moving on is just life. Stage 2 is how you gauge 'longevity' - if a new...

Re: what's an average month to win by for players who are experienced at xcom, but not at longwar2? on veteran?

I'm also at the network tower stage with a 2nd region though, which I can in theory liberate soon, if that's wise. Not sure if liberating the wrong region, then liberating the right region, improves matters any. Consider carefully whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages of liberating a 2nd ...

It's august, I've just liberated my first region... have I blown the game? Not enough information. Have you banked enough intel to get to Golden Path regions quickly? Do you have a Facility Lead or two you can follow through to keep the doom meter down? Have you been doing weird things to cause Adv...

Re: Commander Honestman Campaign

With AP Rounds and Walk Fire he's well-able to take out any drones or stragglers for which Combat Protocol is often used. It's a flip of Specialist and Ranger roles for sure, but one I'm quite happy with as it gives me multiple OWs at LCpl instead of GSgt. While Combat Protocol can be valuably used...

Based on your previous posts, since I've come here, I can say pretty confidently that your tactics and mine are very different. So trying to have this kind of discussion is frankly pointless. Actually there is a point to this discussion: Xenos' Phobia is my primary audience in this thread. What you...

Re: Commander Honestman Campaign

My basic GOp squad composition is While I appreciate you intended this to be "here's the base template to make per-mission adjustments to", it's worth emphasising that it's a mistake to treat all GOps the same. Fixed evac vs evac flare is an obvious one, but so too is "when will RNF ...

It's an all-or-nothing perk with appropriate payoff. Either you dedicate yourself for that payoff (read: get 100% crit chance and 100% hit chance) or you ignore it.

I think Dwarfling's point is that even if late psi soldiers never win against Advent will, they still bring enough to the table to warrant consideration.

Re: LW 1.5 questions

The fixed evac spawn locations being variable is a further detriment to stealth on some GOp objectives. Try and 'stealth' some prisoner(s) out when the evac is half the map away from the jail.

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

The only time I go with 5 man squads are when they are all MSGTs and even then, it needs to be a critical mission that I must do and have little time. I like to have enough personnel to deal with the unexpected. Mmm yeah, that's kind of what Legendary makes players do. Even on Commander, many a tim...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

OK I'll bite... How you gonna do all that with just smoke? Maybe it has some properties I'm not aware of. I never said "just" smoke. That's the end of the grenadier's job - to lay down (dense) smoke. The 2 specialists then alternate to ensure the AI breaks down and stops being a threat. I...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

Personally, I'd rather the grenadier take 16 enemies out of the fight for 3 turns with 1 smoke than CC half an 8-man pod for 1~2 turns. 16 enemies gunning for me. They're not shooting. When I say "out of the fight", I really do mean "not even shooting". Ok, there's some slight e...

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

Are you saying you won't take a grenadier on an HQ/GP? Say you have a pod of 8 troopers just standing around, and instead of dropping an incendiary or sting grenade on them, probably taking half, or more of them out of the fight immediately, you just start shooting? Or I guess a better question is ...

Re: How early is too early to liberate?

Intercept the Columns and Supply I guess. Just to be clear, that'll raise Vigilance in the neighbours. Maybe that's what you want. You need a certain amount of vigilance just to manage the doom clock. While global vigilance is something to keep an eye on, my previous post was written with local vig...

Re: How early is too early to liberate?

Not sure what to do about neighbors wanting strength. Intercept the Columns and Supply I guess. Just to be clear, that'll raise Vigilance in the neighbours - there'll be a net concentration of Str gathering in the vicinity from trying to kill off 1 Str. Maybe that's what you want. Alternatively, yo...

Anyway, I was faced with the same decision the other night. It’s mid-May, starting region is the Artic. I’ve contacted down the side of Eastern Asia (so contacted regions are Artic, E. Asia, and Indonesia. Strength is fairly low in all regions, with high Vigilance in the Artic, which had the expose...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

Lol, not sure how dealing with a bunch of retaliations constitutes freedom, but ok... Supply retals are fine, but the rest pretty much suck. I would think that you want at least 2 liberated regions which makes a 20% increase very significant over time. That and the fact that all those retals increa...

Re: First Campaign in the Books...

How would you get supplies? One aspect I'm really not crazy about is the constant scrounging you have to do. It's like living out of a trashcan. Liberation allows you a lot more freedom to get stuff done. If anything, liberating gives you less freedom. The supply job has +20% if the region is liber...

Gratz on your first campaign win.

I don't recall ever reading an AAR diary which didn't write up what the strategic choices were. Sure most of the words may get spent discussing tactical missions, but the context is there.

Re: LW 1.5 Grenadier builds

Wait, does the aim de-buff stack for multiple suppressions? While we're about it, do you know for sure what the aim de-buff actually is? I've seen people refer to different values. I don't know the exact debuff amount - I assumed the tooltip was accurate and went with that in my mental calculations...
