I guess I got lucky with my first S&G. I got the high ground early on a really tall building and I had 2 snipers. I also took 7 soldiers total with 3 squaddies. So I had superior numbers. The map was a friendly city map with plenty of cover so I was able to take out 10 advent and only took 1 hit...
