Snapshot range penalties on Long Watch

Long War 2 v1.5hf It seems that if you take Snapshot it will override your range tables on overwatch. Basically it's irrelevant unless you take Long Watch. I'm not sure it's intended because snapshot no longer applies penalties on regular shots & other 2 action abilities like in v1.2. I've been ...

Re: [Suggestion] Double-barrel as 2 separate rolls & small tweaks

You seem to be making your case predicated on the assumption that all rangers have Rapid Fire and Bring 'Em 'On. Is this true? It's not, but those are really strong perks for Rangers who would go for close-range shots more often than others. It's just a good example I guess. I think that even in th...

Re: [Suggestion] Double-barrel as 2 separate rolls & small tweaks

Whether you fire both barrels at once or not on a double-shot is irrelevant for the game mechanics in this case. It's also quite far from being OP and it can't reliably one-shot things above 10-11 HP i.e. MECs, facelesses midgame officers, sergeants, vipers, ocassional elite troopers and mutons (if ...

[Suggestion] Double-barrel as 2 separate rolls & small tweaks

Sawed-Off is a pretty cool weapon, and I tried to use it a lot in my playthrough. While it's pretty useful sometimes I've come to conclusion that it becomes underwhelming fairly quickly and getting the advanced version at coil tier doesn't fix it. It has to do with current both-barrel mechanics and ...

Re: Are mags better than lasers

Having +1.5 avg base damage & +1 on crits is vastly superior to +5 aim for any soldier in general. It's quite OK to keep laser SMG's on soldiers who don't shoot too much though. With support calsses you're likely to use their guns just to finish off 1-3 HP enemies or apply an ammo effect, especi...

Re: Questionable Perks

I think Long Watch isn't so much against the idea of what the sharpshooter should be doing as it is rendered obsolete by Scopes. The idea of a soldier with extremely high aim and a high-damage shot Overwatching half the map? That's strong, even if it's only at times where you can't get a reliable s...

Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)

Formidable on grenadiers is good for short missions where an extra grenade won't make a big difference. On missions with high enemy count though an extra grenade equals one more turn of your grenadier being useful, especially if you didn't take any combat perks and that could often be a pretty big d...

Bladestorm Too situational to be really useful and requires you to be in an awkward position to possibly trigger Coup de Grâce If they are disoriented, stunned, or unconscious they are low priority targets Concussion Rocket Only reason it can be useful is because it's buggy (it's not supposed to de...

Re: Questionable Perks

I think Cutthroat is undervalued, it just dont give you much early-game. Most of late-game ADVENT have armor on higher difficulties though and you can still slice flashbanged/burning/suppressed mutons. Also +15% crit equals +3% to not graze in melee and some bonus overall % to actually kill the targ...

Re: Biggest hit, can anyone do better than 82

Does it mean that Coup de Grace won't kill armored targets unless you pick Cutthroat? It kinda makes it even more useless. And Kubikiri doesn't work at all after the fix for some reason... at least for me. I was pretty excited when my Sharpshhoter got Shadowstrike via AWC to guarantee crits but this...

Re: Biggest hit, can anyone do better than 82

Lethal shouldn't be available via AWC for assaults, they've already got it in the perk tree. Hunter's Instincts is possible though. Also I'm pretty sure that Killer Instinct gives +50% only for the crit damage and any fractions get rounded down. The highest possible damage should be Street Sweeper o...

Re: Are Flashbangs overpowered

Flashbangs are strong because crowd control is really strong in general. This things though got huge radius and you also can throw them further than normal grenades. The thing is - flashbangs & smoke nades are literally the strongest grenade types in the game for supportive grenadier and it requ...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

What I'd like to see is to bring back critfantry, I mean Pavonis is sort of trying with the current perk tree, but you just can't get the crit % high enough to really make it happen. It would make infantry the damage focused class that has high variance, which would be interesting and different fro...

Re: Shinobi, Reaper, Iron Skin

It works both ways and it seems like it's how the game handles negative damage at the moment. I've seen a zombie heal my assault with Iron Skin PCS for something like 2 hp and my wounded guys with Will To Survive perk "regenerate" 1 hp on enemy shots sometimes (even more so, some of those ...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

Wrt: hunters instinct I am saying that one HI flanking shot is generally better than two non-HI non-flanking shot. And it is. That is, the ability to fire twice is relatively weak without the ability to generate exposure. Can't agree with that. One HI flanking shot could be better only when you abs...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

Tac Sense is pretty good indeed, but Implacable is just insanely strong on a rifle/shotgun serial killer Shinobi. If you can pick your first target it's basically a free Run & Gun every turn and with Serial activated you retain this bonus move while killing stuff from the same position and then ...

Re: How many are attempting "Light" Guerrilla Ops with 6-ish soldiers?

I rather feel like it's the other way around and small 2-3 man stealh squads are somewhat more likely to be wiped out or just unable to complete the objective without risk than 6+ strike teams. It's always beneficial to take as much troops as you can afford when you've got spare infiltration time, y...

Re: The many foibles of Ever Vigilant

It is logical to assume that in this context the "action" should be something that actually consumes at least one action point. In current state it really feels like a bug and a pretty annoying one. Damn, sometimes it doesn't trigger even if you didn't actually do anything: my OW specialis...

Doesn't work for me either. Just had a kubikiri crit on damaged ADVENT general (siper rifle, AP ammo, 2 armor left at that point) and it only did regular crit damage leaving the enemy with 9 HP.

Re: defense "rebalance" in 1.2?

I think that close-range bonuses should be stronger in general. I actually tried some tweaks to make the aim bonuses work like non-linear red fog and it feels pretty good so far. viewtopic.php?t=24203 It would be quite nice to have a toggleable option for quadratic aim bonuses in the mod options whe...

Re: Suggestion: Range aim bonus tweaks (+ graphs)

I feel like they're more inaccurate than rifles even at ranges i would call close and I just don't think that's necessary with the amount of pods you can activate in lw2 by fighting at close. Yeah, assault rifles basically have a better accuracy than shotguns at 5 tiles distance (12 vs 8) and at 4 ...

Suggestion: Range aim bonus tweaks (quadratic, with graphs)

Hello there. I'll just get straight to the point. I believe that the range bonuses in XCOM 2 are kinda too harsh and combined with LW2 graze mechanics it makes killing stuff at close range too unrealiable. Going for a close range flanking shot with a low ranked/low aim soldier is too much of a gambl...
