Re: One dark event has made me feel like I lost the game...

Yeah Vigilance is definitely one of the worst to get, as it makes stealth missions significantly harder. Perhaps once the balance of stealth vs combat is addressed, this Dark Event won't be so brutal.

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

I'm think a RT Sharp is used more like an off-scout that can still help the squad while concealed rather than an actual sniper. I have a hard time seeing room in any combat team for that. The more firepower you bring, the faster enemies die, the less likely you're going to get shot, or have added p...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

Why are people saying that Rapid Targeting only helps you once every 4-5 rounds? It helps every round because it makes holo a non-turn-ending action, even while the "free" holo action is on cooldown. So you can ALWAYS holo/holo, or holo/command, or holo/smoke grenade, or holo/steady. Ah y...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

Rapid targeting is way overrated, and while DFA isn't some top tier perk I think it's easily better than RT. The way the game is right now, you only bring sharpshooters to untimed missions and retaliations, in which there is great high ground to park them on 85% of the time. The extra actions you ge...

Re: PSA use assaults for stealth missions you can't lose.

My god, so I can in one turn:
Close Combat Specialist a free shot
Run And Gun - Fan Fire or Clutch Shot with a pistol
Then take another action? Including shooting again.

Assaults may be the new best pistoliers.

edit: Yes, meant Close Encounters not Close Combat Specialist

Re: [Feedback] Gunners, 1.2

I don't know if gunners are stronger than Sharpshooters or Assaults, that's arguable, but I don't think they're much weaker either. They carry the strongest gun in the game, and can shoot 2 times a turn on different targets using Traverse fire. Both Xwynns and Jolnrbs don't like traverse, but it dra...

Re: PSA use assaults for stealth missions you can't lose.

I didn't know about this mechanic, I assume it works that way with any actions that don't end your turn? Like if I Run&Gun and then fire a pistol shot or whatever, it eats the run and gun charge and leaves me with 2 more actions?

Re: [Feedback] Gunners, 1.2

I agree that gunners are one of the strongest if not the strongest class for combat missions, simply due to their damage output from long range. I like the changes to the perk tree, I always build them as shooty gunners, what you propose would definitely weaken them a bit. But one question I have is...

Re: An alternative way of handling infiltration and mission types

The biggest advantage of stealth is that it lets you take low level, zero equipment troops, and throw them into the mission for a significant strategic reward. I really don't think infiltration times are the primary problem, except maybe in the early game when you only have a couple of regions. If y...

Re: Value of stealth?

I made a guide for stealth, and posted it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/ ... lth_guide/

Short answer, yeah it's really OP. Once you know how to do it, you can succeed on most of them, and the cost of failure is low.

Re: SPARKS worth it?

I like sparks, and would probably use one on my A team just for fun if I could level one. The issue is they come rather late in the campaign... leveling one from scratch when your other soldiers are hitting SSGT or higher is a pretty big downside. This is similar to the issue with Psi. In LW1 you ha...

Re: Ideas for balancing Oscar Mike > Command in rescue missions

I really don't think we need to nerf these mechanics so much as focus on making 5-6 man missions actually rewarding/favorable to do. Stealth missions aren't guaranteed successes depending on map layout and a bit of luck, plus there are events that make stealth missions super hard to do (vigilance, ...

Re: Detecting Rendezvous Missions

Simple question: Does changing the haven adviser reset progress towards detecting a rendezvous? In my first campaign I was able to detect rendezvous consistently, though that was in 1.0. In subsequent campaigns, I've been micromanaging haven advisers, frequently swapping them out, and am in May and...

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

Increasing rewards for doing combat would be good, but I don't think it'll be sufficient to stop 80% of missions from being stealth ones. You only have so many troops, and a big advantage of stealthing missions is that you can infiltrate 5 missions at once because they each only require 1-3 people, ...

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

While I agree with your other points, I do not understand this one There is another broken stealth tactic that I haven't seen discussed much. I call it the "suicide rookie". Have a hack mission with a 3 day expiration, and a 5 turn evac timer? No problem, take your rookie with the worst s...

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions

I'll add my own vote for "way too many stealth missions". I don't want them to go away entirely, the variety is nice, but right now it's crazy how much easier missions are to stealth than to fight through. And it's not just infiltration times that are a problem, even if you brought 6 soldi...
