Re: [General Feedback] Thoughts after first full playthrough
I feel you on the retaliation spam. For the last 2 months I had the same thing, with a bunch of defend the datataps as well. Definitely a case of the Civ disease, since they are interesting/tense early on when you only have a few regions. They apparently don't give corpses for balance reasons, but f...

Yeah the Gatekeeper and Sectoid Commander rezes ignore LOS and are extraordinarily long range (possibly they have no range limit at all?). Sectoid commanders in the final room of Waterworld were trying to rez bodies at the spawn

Re: Infiltration times on second HQ.
Seems reasonable. I'm a huge fan of support grenadiers though, I'd never leave mine at home And a grenadier with an incendiary grenade is an extremely reliable way to deal with the general.CasualGamer wrote: I think I can do it with this team-

Just finished the game, some final missions feedback
First off, thanks so much to Pavonis for a great mod. Really enjoyed my playthrough. I havn't seen much feedback on the final missions so here's some thoughts. Tldr they felt too easy (playing on Legendary, non-ironman but I didn't have to savescum for these missions ;) ) Network Tower I was pretty ...

Re: Infiltration times on second HQ.
I did all my HQs with 9 as a compromise. The last guy is a pretty huge difference. Intel boost is also a good option. My 2nd HQ infiltration was when my B team went from boys to men though, if you can get a good B team running losing your A team for 20 days doesn't hurt as much.

Re: Plasma vs Coil weapons
Are they appealing enough? This is hard to say as a whole because they are separate research items and all have unique bonuses. Breaking it down... Rifles Tech +1.5 damage on rifle, +1 damage on Pistol and SMG, +1 crit damage on all. +1 mod slot on Rifle, this is pretty valuable especially for Range...

Yeah same with the Blacksite, really needs some kind of cue that bad things will happen in 10 turns, 5 turns or whatever.

Re: LW2 needs more "middle class" missions
Interestingly, in my campaign now that I have the infiltration GTS upgrades and Infiltrator officers, I'm doing medium size squad missions again. If these were the default infiltration speeds of 6-7 man squads it would be a much stronger strategy compared to the "go big or go stealth" phil...

Re: Research Priority Order
I just finished Laser Weapons, not the advanced, and combat armor. I have enough stuff to do elerium. Should I research right on through mag weapons, and make coil my main weapon purchases? Or should I invest in a bunch of laser weapons now (the aim bonus is really quite good), and do autopsies ins...

Re: Legendary Oct/Nov, How do I deal with Advent strength
I'm no expert but here's stuff I've learned from my one and only campaign (Legendary, currently Nov24th) Sounds like your research was behind for some reason. I got coils in September and plasma rifles and cannons by mid-November, Warden armor in October. Very hard to trace the cause of something li...

Re: Close combat assaults and sword shinobis seem useless
Not useless, just situational. Yes, it's hard to use them sometimes, but on missions with tight timers, retaliations and reinvasions they're great. And on big untimed combat missions, when you pull the whole map and there are no more pods left to activate, that's when your Shinobi or Assault come in...

Re: Im not quiet understanding technicals
Xavier at this point pretty much put a ring on every single one of his techies, you could check him out He also seems to be playing on some kind of personal challenge mode where he doesn't use incendiary grenades though :p Once you get Volatile Mix incendiary grenades cover 9 tiles which is very re...

Re: Ranger builds
Until then, I will continue using rangers and see if their value drops in the later game (I'm still at the mag-gun level at the moment). It shouldn't drop, you'll be laying down Combat Engineer grenades and Saturation Fires and shredder cannons and something has to mop up the half HP enemies standi...

Re: Blacksite
Interesting. I said 10 turns because that's how it went down in my first blacksite attempt. Went loud at start, got on a roof, overwatch camped, and counted turns. ~10 turns later pod of 8 teleports behind me. Maybe it was 9 turns or 11 turns but it sure as hell wasn't 20. I also recall a new reinfo...

Re: Ranger builds
Snapshot sniper? I'm not sure if I understand the comparison. What is a snapshot sniper doing so well anyways early game? Role of a Ranger is a consistent damage dealer that doesn't rely on cooldowns and kills 2 ayys a turn, almost every turn, all mission. They do that pretty well. A sniper literall...

Re: Ranger builds
Here's the hybrid build I use on most of my Rangers, aimed at maximizing their power through all stages of the game. I don't think making a full Overwatch build is worth it on your core guys because you give up too much early game power. Walk Fire - It's like a crappy Hail of Bullets you can use eve...

Re: Blacksite
In mine, and in the videos I've seen, the evac is fairly close to a backdoor to the main building near the objective. Sneaking all the way to this backdoor and doing a smash and grab is maybe the best way to approach it. Kill or disable the 2-3 pods you activate while your fastest guy grabs the vial...

Re: [General Feedback] Strategic layer and class balance
Flamethrowers have a purpose. They *do* work. Xwynn's proven that pretty effectively, but at times they're wonky and not ideal. Generally getting close to aliens sounds like major risk. Main thing that sticks out to me is they aren't as good as incendiary grenades on grenadiers. In xwynn's excellen...

Re: [General Feedback] Strategic layer and class balance
Seems to be a lot of disagreement on rangers. I think the OP's tiers are supposed to be pretty close together, so it's not like he's saying rangers are bad. And rangers top my kill stats by a mile. My best soldier is a ranger (well being a 78 aim rookie helped). But kill stats can be a bit misleadin...

Re: Feedback from my playthroughs
Once you can handle an 8-pod, whether there are 3,4 or 5 8-pods makes little difference to difficulty. Well, it does because multipulls are still dangerous. You can still get into bad spots on swarming supply raids because they have seven 8 pods. Once ADVENT's minumum trooper HP is 15 (October in m...

I think I agree with everything here, except Psi, because I havn't used them, since when I had a resource crunch they didn't seem worth gonig for, and now that I have a resource surplus, it seems to too late to go for them. So actually I guess I partially agree with you about psi ;) Class balance do...

Re: Formidable: Ever Worth the Tradeoff
I think it's reasonable for Assault if you got close range crit over Trench Gun. It's good for a Rapid Fire ranger. It's good for a tank Spark, which is my preferred usage of them. Flame Technical you might take it, I really like Tandem warheads though. Grenadier and Gunner I'd never take it. Certai...
