Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.
I've seen suicide rookies used more often for Kill VIP missions than Hack Workstation missions. It's totally worth it if all your real squads are out on assignment and the Kill VIP mission is for the Lib chain. Then you get Lib chain progress, one of the rewards, and it only cost some supply. Yup K...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.
Has anything been done to address suicide tactics? The most egregious being Hack Workstation, which can be done by any rookie pretty easily.

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.
2. I will never do supply or recruit in non-liberated regions in 1.3. I think many players will do the same, can't see anyone enjoying more retaliations. I interpreted the retal changes as something that would reduce the frequency, and increase the variety. In 1.2 I'd switch large havens over to su...

Re: Flashbang mk2 and mk3 are needed
Psi Grenades from LW1 (essentially a super flashbang available only to psi users) would be an interesting option to see at some point imo. A Codex-inspired utility grenade which has the effect of depleting the ammo of targets in a large area could also be interesting. I think the EMP grenade should...

Re: Flashbang mk2 and mk3 are needed
Even post nerf they still look like one of the strongest grenades in the game, and with the sting grenade upgrade I think they're definitely the strongest. Part of that is that most of the other grenades are so weak, but even then, it's odd that a free grenade you start the game is so strong. Flashb...

Re: 1.3 Changelog got updated.
Looks like really good changes across the board. Really like the buffs to Double Tap and AMF, seems much more balanced now with Serial. New ammo buffs should make it much more interesting for choosing loadouts, though I think EMP rounds will still be really bad given how few mech units there are. Is...

Re: How many intel havens/cherry-picking mission strategy?
You should have as many rebels on intel as missions your roster can handle. Priority should go to 4+ strength regions to detect Ambush Troop Column missions. For the first 2 months at least you'll probably be 100% intel in all 3 regions. If all your soldiers/equipment is exhausted all the time, and ...

Re: Suggestions for Battlescanner Utility
I would like to see the current battlescanner be free from the beginning of the game, and then make the proving grounds project upgrade them into something much more powerful. Bigger radius, longer duration, whatever.

Re: Is There Any Reason to Develop Plasma?
In 1.2 I think plasma is never even worth considering. This may change in 1.3 if the late game becomes more relevant. As it currently stands, there are many more options available that are all better options to spend resources on. If your actually trying to win the game and not simply playing "...

Re: Is There Any Reason to Develop Plasma?
They have additional bonuses, most notably Sniper Rifle has +20% crit, Cannon does + 1 extra damage in addition to the normal +1.5 per tier, and shotgun gets +2 crit damage. Also shooting at enemies with no armor happens frequently, especially if you're using shredders. I think they're a nice upgrad...

Re: What is the idea behind Crit Rangers?
Crit Rangers are basically "supposed" to shoot three times per turn (Light 'em Up into Rapid Fire) and produce a high number of crits while doing so, creating an overall single-target damage output that is very high and relatively safe at the expense of being relatively immobile and lacki...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
Serial is still going to be really strong, you'll still regularly get 5 kills with it, and I think as it is now I would take Serial on every SS. If double tap was 2 different targets, I would probably take that over Serial, or at least it would be an interesting decision. I think that would be a nic...

Re: Making the war longer
I really don't like the idea of true concealment as standard LW2, it means that I'm encouraged to spend an infinity amount of time stealthing to the objective or setting up the perfect ambush. The only limit is my patience, and it's already bad enough on timerless missions. I was watching JolNrbs st...

Re: What are the uses of Field surgeon?
How do you know about that change? In the patch Notes doesn't specify about this. Anyway I still see it not very useful, most of the time (mid and late game when perk come) my soldiers don't receive damage and when it happens is something like 10HP or even a bleeding. And decreasing a 10% of the ti...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
Kubikiri must have a really strong lobby at HQ. It's gone from a never pick to a must pick. Like a Phoenix! I'm impressed. :) Long Watch seems like suicide in LW2. I always took it in vanilla but would never consider it now. Ha. But seriously the +Defense perks are so bad, all it does is encourage ...

Re: What is the idea behind Crit Rangers?
I feel like the problem with critfantry isn't crit chance, it's crit damage. I like the idea of a high variance soldier, that would be an interesting niche for rangers. Imagine if rangers had the highest DPS per turn of any class, on AVERAGE, but sometimes they miss their crits and do very little, a...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
(removed image to not make post giant) This is patch 1.3 perk tree of Sharpshooter from JoINrbs`s live streaming. Phantom reposition in Corporal rank, it looks awesome! That is a good news for a RT Sharpshooter build. That staff sergeant tier of perks is the worst in the game. 3 completely useless ...

Re: What are the uses of Field surgeon?
I can't find the reason to pick up this perk. When 1 HP is an important % of the damage received (in early game) we don't have acces to this perk and in late game 1 HP isn't a lot when we receive something like 10 damage in a hit. And it happens not very often. So in my opinion is a perk that isn't...

Re: Peek from concealment
Well, the mod works perfectly fine with LW2 right now and all, so I'd recommend using it. You're allowed to do that, you know: Use mods to make the game more catered to your desires. :P Also, are you Stefan from SA? If so, I remember you from back in about 2000 kicking my ass at Sacrifice and then ...

I haven't tried the mod, but I love the idea of something that actually encourages me to go into buildings and on top of roofs while in concealment. Would be great to see it worked into a future version LW2.

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
I really hope they tone down the defenses on some of these enemies in exchange for being so difficult to control them. Xwynns was saying on his channel that defenses and dodge were lowered across the board for late game enemies. I think flashbang radius was also lowered, stated by bill on reddit. T...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
I can't understand Formidable nerf, really. It's only use was armor stacking, now it's gone, what point of taking it now? Any late game shot will penetrate it, even with graze. It's a buff for most of the game, as it'll reduce wounds and reduce the chances of being one shot. That said, it'd be nice...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
Formidable Your gear includes an extra layer of protection, granting 2 bonus ablative hit points So +1 armor vs +2 ablative. I think this is better overall. If you only get hit once, this may eliminate wounds altogether, especially grazes. Being able to get 4-6 ablative through most of the campaign...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes
I don't like many of these nerfs. No radius increase for advanced grenade launcher? So what's the point in upgrading it in the first place? Flashbangs not always working on powerful enemies? Serial with reduced damage for every kill? I sometimes don't understand why many players want nerfs for abil...
