Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)

Formidable: I think you're undervaluing this somewhat in general, especially when you're prioritizing an extra grenade on a grenadier over it. I don't think Heavy Ordinance is a great perk, but Formidable is weak too. Do you put 3 or 4 grenades on your grenadiers? If yes, then you're better off tak...

Re: Questionable Perks

failsafe is very very bad. i have no idea why people like that perk. the relevant consequence of failing a hack in any situation where you care about the hack is always that you didn't get the hack success reward, not that you have to suffer the hack failure punishment. the times i can remember me ...

You also get the occasional invasion of your region, which provides a lot of good corpses and xp.

Re: Usefulness of Plasma Grenades/Medics

Plasma grenades are Ok, not a big priority, outclassed by Incendiary grenades. If you want to destroy cover, take Shredders on EXO suits instead. Healing in general is pretty useless in the game. Though I'm off the opinion that medics were pretty useless in LW1 as well :) Best way to heal your soldi...

Re: [Feedback] 1.2 Perk Tree: Tier balance (Wall of Text Warning)

Nice post! I agree with most of what you say, so I'll just write down my disagreements (L/I perspective) 1) Protector vs Heavy Ordinance. There is no contest here at all, take Heavy Ordinance, always. This is because every grenadier should be taking incendiary grenades, regardless if they're support...

Re: Recruitment Raid Very Difficult

If it's really too hard for you, consider skipping it and let the recruits die, it's better than your soldiers dying. I'm getting a bit alarmed at the shear number of hopeless missions that come along in LW2. Games are supposed to be challenging and fun. Not exercises in frustration. I think recrui...

Re: Balance of different difficulty levels

I think one aspect that currently unbalances stealth missions is the fact that you are getting most of the XP whether you kill the aliens or not. On most missions there are only 2 reasons to kill aliens, loot drops and xp. Otherwise you want to avoid conflict at all costs, which is very odd to be s...

Re: Balance of different difficulty levels

OK, i knew there were different "hacks" but thought that apart from the added loot, they worked similarly and i knew from personal experience that loosing the hacker left a package that had to be recovered to complete the mission. On Suicide running a "Destroy the relay", well y...

Re: Balance of different difficulty levels

There is definitely a learning curve to it, but once you know how to do it that's no longer a good reason. But for example, even in your current mission, next time you get a hack workstation mission with 3 days left, send in a solo rookie to hack it, and let him die. Stealth suicide though is a pro...

Re: Balance of different difficulty levels

I play on L/I, but I don't see why stealth wouldn't be the most powerful option on every difficulty? Well, for me, I think it's the fact that I'm already in the middle of my campaign. I've been playing this single save slowly over the last few months, and through multiple version updates. I started...

Re: Balance of different difficulty levels

I'm one of the "nerf stealth" proponents, and I don't think the problem is that playing the game without stealth is impossible or unfun or whatever. I don't think misison timers are too short, I think grazing is fine, I don't think infiltration times are too short, and I like permanent Da...

Re: Are Flashbangs overpowered

Would people feel that Sting Grenades were more balanced as a perk if they had -1 or -2 radius compared to Flashbangs? I think that would help. Other issue is that damage focused grenadiers are usurped by Shredders. When you need AOE damage or cover destruction you're better off using a shredder th...

Re: Are Flashbangs overpowered

They are good but the game is balanced around them. You may argue about grenadier abilities or relative weakness of alternatives, but flashbacks themselves are fine and frankly necessary given number of enemies vs xcom killing power. Whether you nerf flashbangs or buff other grenades, something wou...

Re: Are Flashbangs overpowered

Why do you think that they're an inferior flashbang? They provide a roughly equivalent aim and mobility bonus, do slight damage over time, last at least 2 turns, and can be used for zoning. I'm not saying they're crazy good- flashbangs are free and can be buffed with perks- but they're not half bad...

They are damage grenades, and are basically an inferior flashbang.

Re: SPARK Builds

I build my SPARK as a tank, because I think they're the only class in the game suited for it, they can go back into the field even while damaged. Shredder/Iron Skin, whichever. I chose Iron Skin in my current campaign just to fish for Chrysallids in the Psi Gate mission, but that's probably not real...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

Critfantry is still a thing and this guys can outdamage gunners, they just need the right team to be efficient. :) Hmmm, it seems you have to give up a lot to do that? I don't know if it's really fair to count Get Some and Holotargeting, when that benefits everyone, not just the ranger. For example...

Re: Support Grenadier the new meta in 1.3?

Does Sting grenades work on robots even without Bluescreen Bomb? If not, wouldn't BB be better than Boosted Core? Yes they do stun robots, even without bluescreen bomb. That should really be fixed. That said, there aren't many mechanical units in general, and they're usually easy to kill because th...

Re: Support Grenadier the new meta in 1.3?

+Vote for hybrid grenadiers. I now build every grenadier this way. Rapid Deployment, Heavy Ordinance, Boosted Cores, Sting Grenades. Basically, the build works because sting and incendiary grenades are incredibly strong, and being able to launch two of them in a single turn when things are looking r...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers

With this tree I can't understand why I wouldn't take the entire left side every time? Seems much stronger than everything else. It would make rangers strong, but it would also basically make them just like gunners, which is kind of uninteresting. What I'd like to see is to bring back critfantry, I ...

Bombard icon is green, falsely indicating it as a free action

v 1.2
Bombard is a SPARK perk.

It actually ends your turn, so ideally would be color coded correctly.

Re: So 0%/low% supply raids are getting nerfed....

I don't really see how nerfing it to 8 soldiers is going to be enough, they're still going to be doable. I think it'd be more interesting if supply raids were easier to detect, but if it isn't detected by 5 days remaining (or whatever number makes sense), then it never shows up at all. I'd actually ...

Re: What classes/starting stats should choose for officers?

1. Shinobis - This is my preferred officer class, as you're often saving their stealth for when you really need to break it, and in the meantime they can contribute with officers abilities. 2. Grenadiers - I build all my grenadiers with rapid deployment so they often have spare actions, and it's ver...
