Don't they make decent officers? The fact that their officer abilities don't compete much with combat abilities seems to be a plus. They need to be high enough rank, I forgot what exactly it is. I know for instance if you want to train the 7th pistol perk you have to be a TSGT. It's not that high to train the 3rd offensive perk, but again sorry I forgot what exactly it is, maybe SSGT?

I suppose combining Holo with Area Suppression in this way (if it applied Holo)
If you read the tooltip of holo from the sharpshooter or from the SPARK, it specifically says Area Suppression will not apply holo.

Without regards to AWC perks, I'm a fan of AMF. I rely on DFA sharps to one shot something every turn without having to rely on a cooldown, and AMF goes a long way to making sure that happens. If you've lost at least 1 health, you cannot be unwounded. At best Field Surgeon can return you to the 90-10000% wound severity range. So at best you are going to be wounded for a few days. In 1.3, a region is safe from retaliations if no more than 2 rebels are working at a time. So even in super high strength and vigilance regions (7+ advent strength qualifies), you can put 2 rebels to Recruit or Supply safely. A region crushed down to 0 rebels is a useless region. Is that really true? I was doing a haven defense where they would spawn reinforcements way out at the edge of the map, well outside the area that my team circumscribes. Sure didn't feel like a baricenter whatsoever.

Based on the tooltip, Trojan does up to 8 damage (ignores armor), depending on your hack versus their defense. I don't know the formula.
