As well, if you go for Mag rush, your rebels on Rendezvous missions won't get Laser Weapons, as they normally would after Mag weapons are unlocked. Rebels never get the leading edge weapons but will only get weapons that were researched by XCOM.

You can only prepare so much. You have to prepare properly and to the right degree. I'd say victory in games is 90% identifying how not to go wrong and 10% identifying when to take careful chances. There's a reason I insist on bringing a sharpshooter to every GOp in the earlygame, even though their sniper rifle is useless a lot of the time. Good point.
