Re: LW2 - Grenadier - balance and ammo
Four incendiary grenades, plus two explosive grenades from specialist airdrop perk. I never feel the lack of artillery from my grenadiers. The only time would be hq missions where you might end up spending grenades on single enemies, or the final mission of course (which is why they tend to stay hom...

Re: Stealth in 1.3 - tips&tricks
I've got simple pleasures, so I just tend to go loud early even if I only have a few soldiers and just bash my way through the mission. The only difference being that the explosives and flames come into play even if it kills something, unlike missions where you got time to spare. I still bring a shi...

Re: ADVENT grenad launchers & flashbang
Is it ? I believed the FB was lost. So... forget it :). I'll comment since I had this occur during my latest mission, even if my shinobi managed a bladestorm on the engineers second attempt to flashbang. I thought just like you did, why on earth would he flash my two other guys a second time, and t...

Re: PCS Stacking [1.3]
I'd never be comfortable running class mods and whatever alongside LW, I do not trust 3rd party fiddlers to that extent. The most "hip" mod I am trying is the Celatid enemy one, since those buggers are cool, and even that is ruining my immersion due to spelling mistakes in the descriptions...

Re: how do you use Concussion Rocket?
Fire at group, run in with shinobi or assault at point blank, granting them extra defense from smoke while they tend to ignore the smoke's effect on enemies due to proximity and other bonuses. In the end, given how it all works out, the smoke might as well not be there since it becomes a zero-sum ga...

Re: 1.3 - What to buy first
I focused on buying extra engineers and scientists, figuring it'd be a good thing to rush into getting research done and excavating the middle for a workshop. GTS built in the first corner slot. Got lucky with some vip extracts, so I got three scientists and four engineers in the first month iirc, s...

Re: A couple beginner 1.3 questions
I know a successful hack of a drone does not break concealment. This is quite useful early game to help get by those roaming single drone pods that threaten to spot your squad...just shut them down and walk by...allowing you to go loud on something else closer to the objective. Thanks for reminding...

There are mods that help you out, Gotcha! and others. LoS is logical and finicky at the same time.
Aliens to not know where you are unless they see you. Pods vary in state as well, from wandering to searching for you, drawn by sound and so on.

How can you play 8 months in game and not liberate a single region? That's a feat in and of itself.
Anyway, time to start over and play with better focus.

Re: Well-rounded flamerish Technical build
My flamers are straight down the fireman side, nothing to think about really. Rockets without javelin is truly useless in my experience, better to focus on every fire-boosting perk. Area suppression on gunner and or overwatch on ranger, roust to make things move and maybe get set on fire. Making thi...

Re: Close combat assaults and sword shinobis seem useless
Because nothing can deliver as much controlled burst damage as an assault, which is why I always bring them. Running half-way, kill one alien with one shot, activate run and gun (50% more damage perk is nice), run to your actual target, sit in flank and land a critical, one-shotting that naughty eli...

Re: Ranger builds
I find it rather pointless to discuss builds if people are going to do it in a vacuum. Aliens immune to overwatch, most often the naughty snakes. Indeed, which is why they are dealt with before the end of the turn. I tend to set them on fire, crispy critters don't bother me for at least two turns. W...

Re: Ranger builds
Re-specced all my rangers into pure overwatch murderers with combat fitness as the last perk. More aim, more mobility, more hp, constant buff unlike rupture and killzone. I have two 8man msgt teams and two more gsgt/msgt teams near perfected (could end the campaign if I cared to). My top three range...

Re: C/I, red fog (all) on, lost again HQ Assault tips ?
You want one shinobi to spot with, at least one sharpshooter to activate pods from far away (two or three shooters is better) and then soldiers that do not run out of consumables (rangers, gunners, well-used assaults). A specialist using haywire on drones is also an excellent way of triggering and l...

Re: KIA or MIA after X4'ed Monument & Use valid Evac...
Doesn't blowing the monument state "eliminate all enemies" and "place x4 charges"? You do not need to call for an evac at all, the mission just ends with the statue blowing up? Basically, you called for an evac and pulled out of the mission early, resulting in a failure since you...

Re: Finished first HQ assault
Yeah, hq assaults and raids is where you get to be truly naughty and do the good old overwatch traps all day long. I bring three snipers if I can, a psi op or two, specialist and some pew pew soldiers. Mind control, haywire and full override and you don't even have to risk your own guys to soak shot...

The thing is that it does , but it doesn't works like it does in Vanilla, it applies at the start of the round instead. I'm not sure if that was a purposeful change or not. Wait, doesn't that mean it's almost useless? Since most Disorient/Panic effects last one turn, that means that moving the Psi ...

Re: Extract VIP mission
I send a single shinobi and just run the edge of the map and wait for the opportunity to make a two-move dash with the vip. Having to worry about more non-concealed friendlies is horrid, even if the xp min-maxer in me sobs a bit. Two or three shinobis would obviously be ideal, as you say, lotsa flas...

Re: [General Feedback] Strategic layer and class balance
I find psi ops to be spectacular, just takes the extra investment. Solace and Fortress extending to nearby teammates is wonderful. Stasis to lock down anything without fail for a round. Domination to get yourself, for example, an Andromedon for an entire mission. Void rift to apply a ton of crowd co...
