Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

Well in terms of boss killing there is nothing better then Kubikuri-crit sniper. And it doesn't matter how many HP - 100 or 10 000. But sharpshooter doesn't have 1 tile visibility radius and can't kill and stay concealed at the same time as the reaper can. And yes, travers fire-RF gunner will out-d...

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

1. BS round = +5*6 damage. In WoTC it is 5 * 7 with appropriate Skirmish res. order. 2. Shot from conceal ignore 2 armor and all 6 shots are consider from conceal. 3. Shred skill will shred up to 3 armor with each shot. If any is left after homing mines. 4. You can use up to 2 home mines and each -...

Re: The AWC in LWotC - a proposal

Wasn't it Spectrum that took this approach? Classless soldiers who pick and match between 7 branches of a perk tree? I may be mis-remembering exactly which mod did it, but this approach was explored before WotC. Spectrum did, and the dev learned that if you give the players that much from they make...

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

Please don't even try to put reaper into LW - this class is just insanely OP even for WoTC. All hero classes are "insanely OP" in WoTC. Especially so with right extra perks. But then again, your normal soldiers with right extra perks are "insanely OP" as well. No one is even clo...

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

I've got a lot of sympathy for your view, NephilimNexus. Between LW1 and Grimy's Moral Mod (which I was testing with LW2) you could say Firaxis copied over the fatigue system too; does it add slots to the Bar like Grimy's so your weary soldiers can drink to dull the pain? Fun fact that both JL and ...

Re: Dissolving the hero classes into LW2: A proposal

I am... Not a fan, in general, of removing the faction classes in any way shape or form. It's like saying that they should have removed MECs in LW1 and added those abilities to the existing classes instead.

Mhh, they may be a bit stronger than Vanilla classes but don't think they are stronger than LW2 classes. Banish is a perfect example : in LW2 a Sectopod or Gatekeeper is really not an issue me if i have Sharpshooter with Kubikiri and other players have presented other solutions that work well for t...

Re: Infiltration vs fatigue

Infiltration reducing enemy numbers is a thing I really dislike about LW2. It doesn't make sense on multiple levels. As others have said, completely removing infiltration is very unlikely to happen because it forces you to deploy multiple squads at once, which fatigue alone can't accomplish. So I'm...

According to Ufopaedia, there's a comparison with the psionic's rank, see here: http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Psi_Operative_(LW2) This corresponds to the comment in XComGameData.ini: ; additional days per ability level above current psi level PsiTrainingRankScalar[0]=6.0f ;Easy Which is my mai...

Re: Future of shinobi?

Ah, I had meant 'hero class' as in 'usually you only ever have 1, maybe 2 of these in your entire barracks'. The AP perk picking is a separate discussion, which I'd start with "there is no common AP pool, everyone must earn their own AP". I'd much prefer "use this soldier a lot to un...

To be honest one other idea would be to make literally every class a hero, in that they ask use the AP level up instead? Re: Future of shinobi?

I'm not convinced the new classes NEED to be hero classes when brought over to LW2. Assuming they don't keep their class-specific weapons (to save Pavonis making more weapon models), just let the player recruit as many as they want (given adequate resources). 4 simultaneously active squads is about...

Re: My Long War of the Chosen ideas

What I think AP would be good for is integrating into the current AWC we have in LW2. That's basically what it does in WotC. There is no longer an AWC, it's once again a good old Infirmary that does just that ... heal your guys. The Training Center already implements some sort of LW like AWC perks ...

Well that's a nice touch, just like EW. does this mean we can play LW2 with the performance improvements that came with WotC? Unfortunately no. They are two different executables, actually, becase the expansion is so different from the base game. And they didn't go back and implement the performance...

Can I download it into an existing 1.4 game? I'm very close to the end of my current game and would like to see how the 1.5 changes affect the endgame. Thanks for making LW2 such a fun mod. I've really enjoyed it! It would be harder to not download it. It is an auto-update on Steam to get it, and i...

It might also be possible that having an exposed tower/HQ literally makes ADVENT move in troops up to a minimum amount regardless of vigilance, as well. Someone should check that.

Be advised that Relay doesn't counter as a inv. object so it's immune to insta-kill by Shaped Charge/Rockets/Bunker Bustard/Sapper-Combat Eng. Explosives. Re: Rapid holotargeting and SMG?

It's not an actual bug, anyone that gets Squadsight can fire being visual range with their primary weapon, you can in fact get squadsight with anyone through a tower hack reward, perfectly as designed.
Weapons other than sniper rifles have atrocious range tables for ss range, though.

Re: CyberBall stupid AI

I've not had a campaign last long enough to see a Gatekeeper in LW2. Want to meet one to see what happens when I point a T2 stun gun at it. Well it was in 1.2 But a T3 stun gun can basically keep literally anything locked down forever. Even a Gatekeeper. I did that once, there were a lot of enemies...

Technically random, but there are prerequisites to unlocking certain skills meaning you end up quite capable of choosing the skills they'll get.

Hack is useful to only specialists and somewhat to shinobi, and psi is only to ... psi.
Maybe those two should be in a separate pool?
Hack and Psi are, indeed, included in the pool.

As a fellow playing on Commander, I've observed that you are really only going to meet a large amount of Gatekeepers way past when you should have finished the game, you need to be a all the way to FL20 before they start showing in every other supply convoy/troop column. I've been delaying my game ...

Re: Kubikiri. Good or way too good?

Maybe those Gatekeepers were more frequent in my campaign because it was really long (ended in April second year due to half unlucky/half bad strategy in the early game - no scientists for almost 2 months - causing a very slow start) but i can tell you they become quite frequent in the late game so...
