Each soldier can only pick up ONE chest per mission. My guess is that your soldier had already grabbed one chest.

Actually there's no reason to do it at the beginning either. It's 100% retroactive, so there's no difference between boosting at the beginning and boosting at the end. The final result is exactly the same no matter when you hit the boost button. So it actually makes the most sense to NEVER boost unt...

The grenade slot is completely free, both mobility and infiltration time wise. I don't think that's true. If all item slots are filled, a grenadier will have -4 mobility. So the "grenade slot" is not free for mobility. Dunno about infiltration, but I'd guess it's not free for that either....

Attaching files here in the forum doesn't work (you'll get an error saying the file is too big), so most people will upload the save to a file sharing service (googledrive, dropbox, etc) and then post the link to the file here.

Well I guess the real question would be: Is 'enemy readiness' the defining characteristic of infiltration percentage? I know there are tiers that gradually scale down the difficulty of mission parameters as infiltration% rises. And I know the parameters affected by infiltration% were overhauled in 1...

Read the manual :-) You are not supposed to run the Pavonis Standalone Mods (perk pack, leader pack, laser pack, alien pack, etc.). Pretty sure that doing so breaks the game. It's a vanilla bug, and a pretty well documented one. The shell always resurrects with a full set of AP when the 1st stage gets blasted by overwatch fire on the enemy turn.

It doesn't even matter if you're ambushing from concealment or OW-firing on an active pod.

It's only stat-boosting PCS's that are permanent even after they are lost. Ability PCSs (like depth perception) are gone for good.

It should be fixed in 1.3, so you'll have to wait for that. There's a huge thread in the bugfix forum about it, and no one was really sure exactly what the cause was.
