By default you need the same level as the level of the skill to train it. Squaddie counts as level 1. You'd need Corporal to train a level 3 offensive or defensive skill.

It varies due to flight time. The Skyranger takes a little time to drop off the squad and that time is a little unpredictable due to the random positioning of missions on the map relative to the avenger landing point in each region. 2-3 hours is often enough. To start the activity that leads to a retaliation you need:
Intel: 3 alert, 2 vigilance
Supply: 4 alert, 1 vigilance
Recruit: 4 alert, 2 vigilance
Major: 4 alert, 4 vigilance
As a side note, I notice that a Snare mission now requires 8 alert and 6 vigilance. It used to be 7 and 7.

You're buying into the cookie cutter, low aim, dumping ground theory of holo sharp use. That's not the only way to use holo-targetting in a sharpshooter spec. It's a bug with the Grapple of the Spider Suit and Wraith Suit. Sometimes when you grapple onto an object, it fails to update the fog of war correctly and all your movements from then on fail to update fog of war. The only workaround I've found is to load an earlier save and perform the action again...

It's worth mentioning that you can still put a burn effect on an enemy standing in water. Its only removed if they move into a water tile. If they run out of the water in their panic, the burn is not removed

Aside from the flat infiltration increase, the main advantage you get is that enemies no longer get Reinforcements in the remaining missions. Obviously, that doesn't apply to Supply Raids, but it can be useful for cleaning up general ops.

There are actually 3 options at very light with no more than 4 man pods and only 2 options with the 8 man pod. You do have to infiltrate past the two 8 man pod options to get to the three 4 man pod options though!gimrah wrote:I think troop columns always have a pod of 8 advent, even on very light.

There are many other classes that are much better in a Haven Advisor role. The weakest haven advisors are suboptimally specced Specialists, Shinobi and Grenadiers. A Needle Grenades grenadier is quite good though.

It's actually slightly complicated. Trojan makes 8 d100 rolls. It then compares those rolls to 50 + AttackerHackStat - DefenderHackDefense. OK. That one does currently exist. It's definitely wierd though.
All the other D2s have 9 enemies. All the other D3s have 10 enemies. None of the other schedules overlap in numbers like that and none of the others have a solo drone at all.
I can only assume its in there as a nasty surprise.

In 1.3, a region is safe from retaliations if no more than 2 rebels are working at a time. So even in super high strength and vigilance regions (7+ advent strength qualifies), you can put 2 rebels to Recruit or Supply safely. A region crushed down to 0 rebels is a useless region. Indeed. It's a pity its not actually 50%, but 33% becomes very practical if you go for a high level skill early. Ideally you could just fix the tooltip on the second psi-chamber and it would be perfect.
