Re: Sapper/needle grenades, heat/tandem, combat engineer/full kit

I've been strongly disappointed by Sapper. Couldn't even blow up a cactus with my sapper grenadier. Needle grenades OTOH is quite handy in a squad doing materiel recovery missions, but not very useful in most extraction missions (you will destroy some loot from time to time). About the Combat Engine...

But, why?
Honestly, i figured it was probably a bug but it would be nice as a feature using a Proving Ground or Workshop slot for "experimental protocols" or something like that instead of the AWC.

Wait just for clarity, sorry if it was said somewhere and I missed it: which dark events are permanent? All of them? Just the tactical ones? Or are things like alien conditioning permanent as well o.O I'd like to know this too. Some dark events are not labeled as "tactical", yet they appe...

Re: Using snipers effectively.

I agree with everyone thinking they are good soldiers. I use 3 different kinds of sharpshooters (playing on Veteran, now in July) The pure sharpshooters. I have 2 of them in squad "Specters" along with a Sharpshooter officer, a Specialist and a Shinobi. They are my go to squad for ambushes...

Re: Mini retalations ok to ignore sometimes?

All your rebels on that job will die automatically and so will the soldier liaison (but not the eng/sci one currently) Are you sure about this? I had to ignore one of those due to all my squads being in infiltration, with the big squad usually doing such non-infiltration missions locked on infiltra...

Re: Dark events expiring

Welcome to the forum :) Some dark event will wear off naturally, usually after one month. Others (usually they are labeled as tactical dark events but i think not all of them are) are permanent. When you see the missions, i think you can tell the difference because missions that counter normal dark ...

Re: Game Suddenly Ends in Defeat

In the Vanilla game, there is a progress bar prominently displayed, urging you down a certain path. Easy to understand. That bar will show up as soon as you liberate your first region which should be something that goes naturally if you are actively trying to build up your resistance. The big schem...

Re: Dark Events

Permanent Dark Events is nothing short of poor and lazy design. Forcing an end to the game due to lazy mechanics is abhorrent game design. You do realize there were mods with permanent DE long before LW2 don't you? And some of them were rather brutal. This is the weakest argument you could ever mak...

Re: Dark Events

I contacted only 2 other regions in the beginning, I had relays, etc. I decided to put rebels all on hiding until I liberated my first area but that doesn't even affect the 'Advent Strength' despite the inference. Hiding all your rebels is a bad idea. In the early game you should put all/most of th...

Re: Do Scopes, Lasers, Steady Weapon affect Rocket Scatter?

He will make only 4 with the perk, but yep you better fire without moving. And Aim is probably good for techs. Too bad you don't see the AWC perks before choosing who will become a tech as aim will be pretty useless to some classes. Well, at least it seems to be rather frequent so getting a tech or ...

Re: Do Scopes, Lasers, Steady Weapon affect Rocket Scatter?

So does someone know the math behind aim and scatter relation? Is it even possible to drop below 2 tiles scatter? In LW1, with good aim and steady weapon (it was a basic soldier ability that everyone had) it was possible (thought annoyingly difficult) to get perfectly accurate rockets. Is it still t...

Re: Do Scopes, Lasers, Steady Weapon affect Rocket Scatter?

Does aim even affect rocket scatter at all? Seems like it's always 4 base scatter, -2 with perk (down to 2), +2 after moving (up to 6 without the perk or 4 with the perk).
Now, maybe i don't have techs with high enough aim for it to have an impact.

Re: [UPDATED] PSA: Reinforcement actions bugged in 1.1, hotfix released

I think there should be a setting where we choose to have RNFs come with yellow alert or green alert. I enjoyed Yellow Alert RNFs while they were here. Would be really fun to have that brought back as a full feature (with config for those that don't want it). As a config option that's off by defaul...

Re: How good is "Basic Research" upgrade?

It's an investment - it's like getting 1 extra scientist and that is going to pay off if you do it early enough considering how long the game is... And the effect is pretty significant. When i started it near the end of month 1 after doing all the basic stuff (resistance comm, alien biotech and mod...

The flamethrower doesn't actually deal enough damage to directly kill the faceless, though, and burning to death doesn't destroy loot. Right, i forgot the DoT effect. And, in the early game you don't have many research options either, especially if you don't get some additional alloy quickly after gatecrasher. I've done the "basic research" simply because i had no other options.

I like assaults or technical advisers. Technical rocket is amazing for wasting one of the pods from concealment, and then you can torch the faceless. But this would prevent you from recovering a large part of the loot and corpses no? With most missions now being "extraction" type with no ...

OK. So just to be sure i have it right are these the correct final values (ignoring rounding errors)? Re: What should I do different if Advent strength 3 instead of 2 or 1

As far as i understand, yes. Advent has limited global strength and they assign it to regions based on how much they think the region needs so if you start blowing stuff in a different region and go quiet in your HQ, then it's likely they will move there, but it might take some time.

Wouldn't changing the name make sense then? If i understand correctly it's an issue with the engine thinking "center" is a keyword to center the text. If so another name would solve the issue.
