Something doesn't look right about the Rendez-vous missions. The data here seems to indicate a squaddie gives 5 points. The UFOpedia table tells the minimum amount of intel is 2! This would mean a squaddie is enough to easily detect those missions given a 21 days (min) duration and should intercept ...

Well that is part of the randomness of the AWC (biggest booms on a sharpshooter anyone?). Usually of the tier 1 skills aren't good, I focus on other soldiers. Perfect information is definitely not perfect.
I use it mostly for the shot-bar showing hit-crit-dodge, thought i don't think it's accurate for LW2 either as i have grazed enemies with 100% hit and no dodge shown.
And as others i've missed shots with trench gun.

You don't have to fight many enemies at a time. go many ambush missions instead of a big ambush. Unfortunately, going on many ambushes means you don't have time to infiltrate those (unless you have a good dozen squads) so that's many big ambushes or a few small ones for me. From observation of enemy movements with a concealed shinobi, i think they move towards the explosion site, which seems logical, rather than the launch site. I have no real proof though, it just looked like this on a few occasions so take it for what it's worth until we have a more definitive answer.
