Re: What is the idea behind Crit Rangers?

The sad part is that gunners do about the same damage, but have more ammo in their gun and have a lot more utility. I would like to see rangers be indisputably the highest mid range damage dealers, given that they basically don't do anything but deal damage. I won't argue with that; I also feel lik...

Re: What is the idea behind Crit Rangers?

Crit Rangers are basically "supposed" to shoot three times per turn (Light 'em Up into Rapid Fire) and produce a high number of crits while doing so, creating an overall single-target damage output that is very high and relatively safe at the expense of being relatively immobile and lackin...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes

What I think people really want are Sharpshooters is that can "one shot, one kill" most of the time -- and often enough to justify their movement cost. Simply being able to attack from further behind is not enough with how few offensive (particularly offensive damage) abilities they have ...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes

I would find this persuasive if they had nice offensive perks to choose from... Given that they have a gun with potentially infinite range and higher than assault rifle damage, have the easiest time getting good value out of a Stock upgrade, and get the largest aim growth in the game, they don't re...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes

I also think that if you are going to give classes like the assault the ability to do obscene amounts of damage with skills like street sweeper, then the sniper should have a parity skill, otherwise, it becomes a second rate class. To be fair, snipers doing a Serial cleanup are also usually positio...

Re: Thoughts on the 1.3 changes

Long Watch had better be getting the mother of all buffs if it's getting shoved down into GSGT. A terrible, terrible perk that's basically a trap to take in the first place should not be at the second to last level of a tree. :/ I'm also generally in agreement that 1.3 Sharpie SSGT looks like the wo...

Re: Balancing EXO/WAR with Predator/Warden

I would say reduce the range of both, keep their damage and shred high (maybe not as high as now, but better than grenades) and have cover block them (like they do with Trench Gun/Street Sweeper), possibly being destroyed in the way but protecting the guy hiding behind. This would make them brutal ...

If I recall correctly, the game won't let you put a rookie who has a promotion pending into the GTS.

Re: Rookie Blackjack: how to manage RNG

Not an Aim-free alternative, but an Overwatch build will suffer less from sub-par aim than other builds. A MSgt Ranger starting with 58 aim will have 78 to become 55 on OW shots. One starting with 75 will go to 95 to become 67. Your 17 aim difference is reduced to only 9 for OW shots. With CuP, a S...

Re: Balancing EXO/WAR with Predator/Warden

After watching a lot of Shredgun and Shredstorm (ab)use in my partner's campaign, I am concluding that the Shredstorm Cannon is mostly what needs the nerf. Its range and damage, together, are way too high. Personally, I recommend nerfing its range to match the basic Shredder Gun but keep the damage ...

Re: You know what's hilarious?

I feel jolly anytime an EV + Sentinel shotgun specialist or EV + RR shotgun ranger does their thing by yellow moving straight into a close-range flank on some guys. I don't currently play with reinforcement flares on, but I definitely enjoy seeing overwatch shots light 'em up as they land in any case.

Re: Pistols (underused) and AWC

Also note that Xavier doesn't even use pistols, at least from what I've seen, and I don't recall him saying that it's a house-rule because they're so broken. Xavier has said at times in his videos that he is testing out certain things in a deliberate fashion, even though they are probably suboptima...

Re: Rookie Blackjack: how to manage RNG

It's... Not really something that requires the player attention. Almost always there are other builds other than what the one that requires the Perfect Stats. A Ranger with base 56 aim will still have an amazing 85, accuracy with an elite hair trigger on an overwatch build, a 56 aim sniper can stil...

Re: Pistols (underused) and AWC

I think it'd be a shame to cut it entirely, because I personally love how goofy and awesome it is, but the way it interacts with Shadowstrike etc. should probably be adjusted in some way, yes. I should clarify that I'm an immersion curmudgeon who usually hates things happening in a tactical sim if ...

Re: Pistols (underused) and AWC

Faceoff ranks preeeetty high on the list of abilities that I think should be cut from the game for their sheer unrealism (bullet time that lets a character shoot 30 guys spread all over the place in a single action with a pistol ? Wat.) as well as potential brokenness (lol Shadowstrike/Aggression/BE...

Re: [Suggestion]Bonus exp for completing missions without getting spotted

I think the OP is referring to completing a mission without activating any pods, which is indeed very possible in the current patch (1.2). It would be a cool feature if stealth gameplay was going to receive further development, but it sounds like the game's going to be rebalanced to encourage a loud...

Re: The missions are all the same

To the OP: I'm not sure how far you played, but I should mention, the mission variety usually increases once you get past the initial two or three months of the campaign. You will start seeing retaliation, intel raids, ambush troop column, supply raid, UFO assaults, and of course the storyline missi...

Re: Rookie Blackjack: how to manage RNG

This is a good explanation of how to game the starting class RNG if one is using the default systems. It's the kind of card-counting thinking that is necessary if one is trying to optimize stuff of this nature. Personally, I'm going to keep using Commander's Choice, because I cannot understand why p...

Re: Stationary sniper build feedback.

Personally, long watch is the only perk I have never taken in LW2. Overwatch is a fairly weak action choice without synergizing perks (which the sharpshooter has none), especially on a class that often stacks crit. If long watch allowed crits on overwatch shots, I think this becomes a more reasonab...

Re: Less than 1 or 2 Days for Infiltration(s).. SOLUTION.

This issue makes me happy that Dark VIP and Destroy Relay missions can be cheesed, even from very early on. Not sure what that will look like in 1.3 though. Timer RNG in general is something I'd like to see looked at at some point, though I don't know enough about the math to suggest too much too di...

Re: Gunner Nerfs

That's a good point but having a specialized strong build (i don't like talking about class as CG Gunner ≠ Gunner) can give more room to other builds/classes while at the same time keeping them very strong when you need them. I sincerely don't think this can happen for Gunners as long as Area Suppr...

Re: Consequences of losing/skipping missions

Ok, I understand, that succeeding in missions gives vigilance. And skipping missions makes the aliens progress faster or just doesn`t slow them down? (the last part is important to me) It's complicated. If the overall vigilance in the world is higher than the amount of ADVENT legions that exist in ...

Re: Mod: True Concealment

From day one of playing LW2, I've wondered from why this functionality isn't baseline for self-destruct/network lockout missions. It just doesn't make sense that ADVENT knows exactly when to destroy/lock the thing that they don't know I'm coming to steal. Their doing it within a very short timeframe...
