Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

I'm think a RT Sharp is used more like an off-scout that can still help the squad while concealed rather than an actual sniper. I have a hard time seeing room in any combat team for that. The more firepower you bring, the faster enemies die, the less likely you're going to get shot, or have added p...

Re: If you could "rig" the AWC...

Tier 1: Low Profile Tier 2: Deep Cover Tier 3: Tactical Sense Terrible perks(except tac-sense). Only good on an OW build and even then kind of lame. Low profile is +15 defense when not in high cover... that is super weak. Also Hunker should negate overwatch or at least limit it as it reduces vision...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

JoINrbs says that he takes RT because it's more flexible. But frankly I am not sure it is. It's 'flexible' in that it doesn't require high ground, yeah. Unfortunately adding +10 aim once every 5 turns is such a tiny benefit that the DfA sniper only needs to be on high ground about a third of the ti...

It will be fixed soon. The diff between rookie and squadie isn't that big so if you only put your rookies behind lower lever troops there isn't much impact on the game

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

DFA is superior even if you only bring one sharpshooter. The rapid targeter is not close in damage, consistency, or utility.

Re: Early missions with short timers, a failing strategy

Not specifically, depends on whether the bug has to do with the soldier having 0 missions. If so then it would, but I haven't tested it out. Soldiers who have not gone on missions do not have a value stored in their experience slot. At the start of a mission they're given the amount of XP of the ch...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting

In timed, call evac missions, you will get to use DFA 4 to 6 times per fight because you will be able to setup while concealed, engage, and then throw your evac. So long as you're within 2 moves of the evac you're fine (3 with an officer). In non-timed missions you have even more chance to setup. Ad...

Re: [Feedback] Gunners, 1.2

I'm not entirely convinced gunners are necessarily overpowered right now. [...] I kind of agree with joinrb's comment about gunners which is they are good at any stage of the game but not amazing either. Their cooldowns look good on paper, but they are pretty weak in between cooldowns, and if you'r...

Re: [Feedback] Gunners, 1.2

I agree that gunners are one of the strongest if not the strongest class for combat missions, simply due to their damage output from long range. I like the changes to the perk tree, I always build them as shooty gunners, what you propose would definitely weaken them a bit. But one question I have i...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?

Even if you had gotten those top level skills you probably would not have been too happy. Hit rates on dominion are super low... Good rift is tiny damage and base insanity on targets in the radius. Without a mindwhip and an upgraded psi amp and a pcs: psi you have very little guarantee that you're g...

Re: "Haven Infiltrators" Dark Events Lasts Too Long

While I think that two weeks is definitely the top end for reasonable times for most TDEs haven infil might actually be the exception. So faceless aren't the best rebels but you get a lot of value in killing them. 6 corpses plus the faceless corpses... 3-5 (or doubled) items. If you sell all of that...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?

I failed that campaign I started where I cheated myself the cores to get psi early/free. Died to an interdiction mission (and right before that I reset a recruit retal I should not have gone on, and long before that delayed a base assault I never had the power for) I was able to train a good deal of...

Re: Psi Ops still suck?

So something i noticed as i attempted a hard psionics rush... Psionics costs 3(or 4) cores. 2 cores to research it, 1 core to build it, and 1 core to upgrade to the second slot. I am going to make a new game and cheat myself the cores to see if that makes a big enough difference when rushing, to mak...

Re: Campaign Feedback: Prices/Abilities/strategic layer

You're missing the 10% crit from your weapon. Does the UI report crit from depth perception? I don't think I've ever seen it, but I'm not sure I've looked either. I'm also pretty sure that you're wrong about crit over 100 reducing dodge. I think it's just wasted. But if you've done tests showing ot...

Re: Campaign Feedback: Prices/Abilities/strategic layer

So the big thing about sharpshooters is that DFA allows you to fire and then steady. Which gives a significant amount of aim and critical chance. Rangers can do this as well, but rangers have a problem in that, because they don't have squadsight they aren't guaranteed* a good shot on a target the n...

Re: Campaign Feedback: Prices/Abilities/strategic layer

What I would instead suggest is that there is a project which is repeatable (if possible) which takes in a Suppressor and spits out a single Advanced Suppressor at the cost of maybe a couple of alloys, and the same for Advanced to Elite with a bit more of a cost. It would give the Proving Grounds s...

Re: Campaign Feedback: Prices/Abilities/strategic layer

Love the idea of being able to pick up alien corpses and evac with them. Would need certain limits to prevent being too exploitable. Most no corpse missions have the timer + RNFs that would prevent you from just scouring the map for everything you killed. I also like the idea of not losing all the ...

Just about to wrap up a commander regular game (Legendary is beatable, but not fun, iron man off for testing and error correcting purposes) and i thought it would be worthwhile to put some comments down on design and balance. When you face Gatekeepers or Sectopods that have 6+ armor, you're gonna really appreciate the shred. I just 100% crit kubikiri them. Does Kubikiri actually work now?
