I've seen suicide rookies used more often for Kill VIP missions than Hack Workstation missions. It's totally worth it if all your real squads are out on assignment and the Kill VIP mission is for the Lib chain. Then you get Lib chain progress, one of the rewards, and it only cost some supply.

I think a big part of the strategic layer's problems comes from lack of good documentation, so we don't have the tools we need to figure out how to approach it. I meant simple in terms of an elegant solution balance-wise. It also sounds pretty easy to implement compared to everything else in the mod, and I see no reason to believe otherwise until a dev says so.

There is a simple solution for yellow alert that I can't seem to get traction for. The shots should be treated like overwatch shots. Aim malus and no crit chance. Easy peasy, problem solved.

A bound soldier is not totally enveloped, there are still parts of him exposed so i really don't understand the argument that you have to shoot through the viper Are you kidding with this? Advent has a 60-80% chance to hit nearby flanked units standing in the open. They should get huge hit penaltie...

That gap is for Psi strength when (if?) you eventually get Psi.

I agree it would be nice to have Defense on there. Perhaps an icon for Dodge/Defense and put both numbers in the same spot separated by a dash?

I agree this Dark Event is overtuned. It is way too punishing compared to the other possibilities and basically makes your campaign live or die on rng. It becomes extremely difficult to do any times missions non-stealth which means no xp for your troops or lots of wounds.

In your example - 85% to hit, 25% dodge, 35% crit - you actually have a 67% chance to do at least 5-7 damage , which is the number we care about. But the aliens aren't on overwatch. It's their turn. They're just doing exactly what you're doing, moving troops from out of visual range into the fight. The equivalent would be to lock out any member of the player's squad who wasn't visible to the aliens on contact because it's "not fair"...

Ugh, what is with people playing on legend and then complaining that the game is too hard! The excuse that it's just "bad design" is pretty transparent too... As Zyrrashijn said, Dark Events are the new way that the aliens get upgraded perks. We had Navigators and Pod Leaders in Long War 1...
