Since 1.3 Specialist rework almost all possible hybrid builds was cut off, so Field Surgeon make much more sense for pure medic. And competition is so weak, maybe it worth to take even on Hacker/Support Specialist now.

Why this big strong brute must avoid melee clashing with puny human? One unsuccessful attack cannot overweight self confidence and years of training.

I can confirm at least experience issue. From early game automatic promotions I have two Holobots, planned as officers especially for combat heavy missions. With retaliation mechanics rework rebels is just expendables now. Why even bother trying to save them? Only more deaths and wounds come from it.

Rebels seems to be just expendables in 1.4, I will not even bother to place advisers in high strength regions in this patch.

Smoke part of this ability make it unusable. I can see a point of stun/disorient rocket, but why it must give enemies more defense?

I'm not 100% sure, what bad activation's in Xwynns video related to new pod spreading mechanics, but I definitely can see what handling this bad activation's become somewhat harder just because flashbang radius nerf.
Imagine same late game activation with Gatekeeper, this will be instant squad wipe.

1 - faceoff and chain lightning still work really well, and actually haven't been nerfed at all outside of concealment. There's also a lot of other AoE abilities in the game still. Most importantly, though, is the fact that fighting large groups is far less common in 1.3, unless you let reinforceme...

In regions with 6+ I leave 4 rebels on Intel and hide others. This produce nice 7-8 days Troop Columns and, in my case, do not produce any retaliations at all. I play on Veteran, if it matters.

It's a shame! I don't have relevant save file and I must admit, I wasn't able to replicate this issue in another missions. Probably it was a bug. Well, after 3 liberated regions and 7 or 8 troop columns ambushed I got my first Lancer corse. Hurray.

Sounds unbalanced, probably it can create a flow of free supplies. Maybe with some house rules, like "no more than 1 alien per mission extracted". I need to think about it.

This is probably funny, but I see this as and issue. By this moment I killed and looted 160+ corpses ans still can't make a single sword. Where is all Stun Lancers?
I'm on September 4, I done 2 HQ with 40+ enemies both, couple of Troop Columns and 1 Supply raid. I think it is up to 150 corpses in total, but from all this missions I got only 1 lancer corpse. My sword Shinobies will riot soon, probably.

I have HQ ready to assault, but for some reason Advent don't care and not move in any troops at least for two weeks. Probably I will punch them in the face by doing liberation chain in my only 7 strength region.
