Does anybody know if there is any negative consebquence by putting too many ebels on the same job? I mean because I throw away my first campaing and restarted with 1.2 and decided to put all rebels on intel on homeregion (and recruit for jails and hacks) and all on recruiting for contacted regions ...

The explosive path of grenadiers is so bad until you get Combat Engineer.

It's a bit of a truism in LW2 that you want to kill or control everything every turn and grenadiers don't really do enough in the kill department after the early game.

Actually CE does not disable RnG. RnG disables CE, but you can CE -> RnG.

Doesn't this make it impossible to actually capture VIPs? In any case, I don't see this as that big of an issue when a Shinobi with Covert and Ghostwalker can reduce sight range so much that he can stand right next to a VIP and not break concealment. I actually only think it is stupidly broken when capturing VIPs and that 100% needs to be fixed. That is an easy fix just have the VIP have activation movements if someone is flanking them, so you can't blue move and punch them , you could still shinobi slash them just like activating on a pod with...

Maybe if he had a gunner instead of the sharpshooter for suppression, things may have been slightly better... You know a mission's gone really bad when it hinges on the success of a ~50% shot. Watching the video, I'm not even sure there was much he could've done better, except maybe deciding to pull the plug earlier and try to save as many as he could. I dislike the mechanic and think your choices should have permanent consequences. I totally agree with the OP. High retraining time heavily favours pre-planning your soldier builds instead of experimentation. So what happened that made armor stacking so much better in LW2? I remember it wasn't a very useful thing in Vanilla. Blast Padding, the Vanilla equivalent of Formidable, was pretty much a non-entitiy.

Isn't mind merge at least a bit decent now it actually lasts through the enemy turn? Like aid protocol it would help a soldier in a bad spot. Or is just not enough hp to matter? Aid Protocol giving defense and actually preventing shots equals to a lot more damage prevented than Mind Merge and AP do...

I didn't even know you get XP if you fail the mission. That seems like an easy oversight to rectify. You do get xp, and it's a game design not an oversight.
