Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

It means that Long War 2 was commissioned and paid for by 2K in the first place. So if there is anything new on the horizon for Long War 2, it is 2K that will have to decide when and what will be announced and Pavonis will have to play ball.

They are a sub-developer on XCOM 2, but on the mod side.

Re: War of the Chosen compatibility

Easy - there are a few way to do it. For example : - you up the cost of each ability. - you impose a limitation 2 from 3 abilities per rank (for Long War). - you add an incremental increase to the cost of the next ability (on the same soldier). If you have taken 5 additional perks, the next one migh...

Re: War of the Chosen compatibility

For the moment I haven't found a way to remove the base game, but I do not want to as well, since I want to be able to play Long War 2 when I want to. I guess in time they will release a patch merging both versions. For the moment this setup is great for Long War players, though it does take almost ...

War of the Chosen compatibility

I just got the expansion and was surprised to see that it requires 30 GB ( almost as much as the base game). When I opened the launch menu I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are actually two .exe files - you run either the basic game or the expansion. Both have separate mod lists, so you c...

Ammo-consumption perks

This is a topic I have been pondering in a while and it kind of baffles me why Long War (both 1 and 2) have been always about extremes. As part of the Gunner nerf in patch 1.3 the ammo-cost of a few perks has been upped, notably of Demolition, Hail of Bullets and Saturation FIre. However, this had a...

Re: LongWar2 got me into serious troubles > _ <

@ sirburton - You can hire new soldiers from all of the 3 factions, they are just more expensive and to level them up you will need a lot of the new Ability points, which you get during missions and for completing objectives both on Geoscape and Battlescape. @orion_winterfire - To tell the truth hal...

Re: LongWar2 got me into serious troubles > _ <

I suggested Legendary since the base game is a lot easier than Long War 2. If you are playing Long War on Veteran, you should play the base game on Commander. Same goes for Commander to Legendary. The expansion just expands the whole campaign - there are new story missions, there is a new starting m...

Re: LongWar2 got me into serious troubles > _ <

You do not need to uninstall Long War 2, just turn it off from the Launch Menu and start a new campaign on Legendary with the expansion installed. Since it is not Long War, you should be able to complete it in a week or two and get a good opinion of what it adds and takes from the gameplay compared ...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Well, it makes sense that a new update for the game will be released around the time of the Winter sales on Steam (December/January). Nothing wrong with that and more people would be inclined to get the expansion on a sale. That said, I can see a lot that can be done with the new SITREP system, maki...

Re: A question on falling down in network tower and another on advent MECs

From a game-engine point of view, when the floor tile beneath a unit gets destroyed, they suffer fall damage, which depends on how many levels they fall down. Since there is no bottom floor on parts of that map, they will for all intents and purposes die when falling. Alien bodies regularly fall dow...

Re: [suggestions] side arms, main arms and enemy ideas

As I pointed above, most of your suggestions already exist in some shape of form as independent mods. Examples: Advent Sniper - Exactly like you described it Celatid Alien - New alien from the original Xcom Bio Troops - an interesting twist at area denial Muton Demolisher - your anti-armor unit par ...

Only on Steam for the moment. Since the official Nexus page is maintained by the Pavonis team themselves, you will just have to wait till they update it in due time.

Re: [suggestions] side arms, main arms and enemy ideas

Unlike Jagged Alliance, Xcom has always been about a few classes of weapons and direct upgrades. Even in the original one (1994) the variety came from different ammo types. As there are quite a few ammo variations in the mod, I am more than fine with. Sidearms require dedicated perks to make them in...

A day before the launch of War of the Chosen. Now this is cruel - which one to play. :)

Good work team, Steam just downloaded the new patch and I will be firing up the game in a bit!

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

@ThatisXcom Baby - You have it reversed - Firaxis did nothing to ensure that Long War was compatible with Enemy Within. If anything, it took a couple of months till an Enemy Within version of Long War 1's beta was released. I get it that a lot of people are new to the modding scene, but huge mods li...

Re: Rapid holotargeting and SMG?

Another player tested equipping a SMG and having Death from Above. It works just like Serial - if you score a kill you get one action back, and as shooting costs only 1 action, you can go infinite. It is a very, very potent combo, mostly because you can have it at Lance Corporal rank. Even if you ju...

Re: Grenadiers suck.

Grenadiers are great in general. Offensive ones work miracles on timed missions - they can remove cover, shred armor, burn your enemies and damage whole pods. Defensive ones can disable whole pods and protect you with smoke. They can be remarkable on non-timed missions, especially when your position...

Re: Farming troop columns?(rants included)

The next troop column will be at least after 14 days of in-game time. By then you should have liberated the region, so just remove the scientist. Research is so crucial in the early game that I do not think you will ever need to put a scientist in a region. Remember that a region can be reinforced v...

You can put them in liberated regions for more supplies. They will have a constant effect and will pay for themselves instead of being useful for just that one Avenger assault mission.

Re: What exactly is the formula for getting supplies?

Just to add, if one of the rebels is a Faceless, they should actually hinder you, instead of adding to your supplies per day. I think it is -1 but will have to check. In general, if you have 13 level 1 rebels that means 13 supplies/day. Add to that 20% each for an engineer, radio tower and liberated...

Re: Psionics - I was doing it all wrong.

Difficulty plays a big role on your research plans - on Legendary everything takes a lot longer, so you won't be able to research Psi by mid March, far from that. Not to mention building the lab itself. As mentioned, you will still need to train some Specialists to deal with MECs and possibly some S...

Re: Effects of liberation on ongoing troop columns

As far as I understand it, it will try to subtract from the current strength in the region, which after liberation is 1. Since it can not go lower than that, nothing will also be changed concerning Advent strength. You will still get the loot though. ;) From a purely gameplay point of view it is bet...

Re: Effects of liberation on ongoing troop columns

Once you liberate the region, all missions currently under infiltration will prompt you to launch or abort them ( at their current infiltration percentage).

It is advised that you finish any important missions or be at least at a good infiltration level before you start the HQ assault.

Re: SPARKs Feedback

No matter what perks you can get them, SPARKs will eventually lag behind both by your soldiers and the aliens due to limited equipment. I think it is vital to get a few additional mods to be able to enjoy SPARKs : - Moddable DLC Weapons . - Tactical Rigging . This allows you to add weapon mods and u...

Re: A Tale of two players

Yep, the chance is actually a lot lower due to the various variables. Changing the last 100% parameter to a variable is frankly a bridge too far concerning the main role of grenades - crowd-control.
