Re: Crit against 50+ dodge shinoby?

It would require code digging to know the order the modifiers are applied.

If the vest is checked first : 40+10-25 = 25%. Then the graze band modifies it to 20% and finally your dodge is applied bringing crit chance to 10%.

Re: WotC is literally impossible to lose??

The Blacksite in Long War 2 is a particularly sore point about RNG in my eyes. You can not make it appear 3 to 5 regions away and at the same time make certain links between regions random. Depending on which links are missing, I have seen campaigns where you actually have to reproduce Magellan's v...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

So this is a playground for OT People and for OT Police who try to hunt them down unsuccessfully. OT officer reporting in. Operation failed chief. I wasn't trying to police anyone but infiltration is a real and interesting discussion (even if i think everything has already been said but other...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

I was about to point you to that thread to better discuss infiltration (or fatigue) as a game mechanism but i see you've already posted there. I really don't think this thread is the best place for a lengthy discussion about infiltration. It will soon get mixed with plenty of speculative posts anywa...

Sorry to hear about your struggles against RNGesus Tac1 :( When i listen to my scientific formation, i don't believe in luck. Unpredictability yes, but luck no. When i see some friends play DnD i definitely believe in luck  I know someone who can roll a 6 sided and 20 sided die and will get mor...

Re: WotC is literally impossible to lose??

I'll trust you on this. I played only a single campaign. It seemed those covert ops started to appear randomly from june on to make the game way too easy and never showed before when i actually needed them but it might be simply because the facilities randomly spawned in regions not managed by the r...

Re: WotC is literally impossible to lose??

Basically, instead of having to actually prioritise things, I simply got the "Sabotage" faction order and the "reduce avatar progress" covert actions, and now the game will just patiently wait for me to get every single tech, train soldiers to full, and basically become extremel...

Re: My Long War of the Chosen ideas

Soldiers loose Will during the mission so if by "breaking up" you mean getting low will and panic, yes they can. They can't OTOH gain a negative trait during the mission, it always appears when you get back to the Avenger. However a soldier can gain a negative trait even if he was "gr...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Do I understand right that this community highlander is some sort of compatibility tool for the most used mods? I still don't fully understand what it does. It is a mod that doesn't actually change the gameplay, but it adds a bunch of new functionality to the game in ways which are mod-friendly. To...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

Is 2k bad or good guy? Neither, or maybe a bit of both. They are publishers, their primary goal is to make money. They allow games (or in the case of LW2 : mods) to exist but they aren't doing it for free. Whether it makes them good or evil depends whether you consider the entire economic model goo...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Yes, in a perfect and ideal world I too would say that it's better to improve stealth rather than to ax it. However, we're not living in ideal world, and there's not much in the core game to work with - Firaxis concealment implementation is very simple and primitive. But WotC brings some new tricks...

Re: HP Dodge & Defense

It is not problem to have "bad" soldiers. But to have "bad" barracks is actually issue. I have to agree on this. I restarted a campaign after i noticed my entire roster had low aim and mobility. Fortunately it only takes Gatecrasher to know this so it's not a big deal but still ...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Musashi's mods are a mixed bag. The throwing knife is interesting in giving you a few uses of silent kill per mission but the melee Combat Knife implements Slient kill in a weird and extremely abusable way. The suppressors are not too bad but much much stronger than WotCs Reaper which i consider the...

High will is about the only bad result NCE can give you since will is the official dump stat in non WotC XCOM2 :( Normal campaign is easier but legendary need more equal starting soldiers Well, that's different from what you actually asked. You can disable NCE from the options menu (after starting t...

Re: XCOM 2 expansion + Long War 2: Nothing to announce

If Pavonis choose to make their NEW game first. They have right to do it and it will be right step to make. If putting price on Long War will help to make their own game. Put the price. They can't sell LW2 not even use "support" systems such as Patreon because LW2 was comissioned by 2K - ...

Only robots can perform like that. Robots, Batman, Jedis, high level D&D characters ... the list is pretty long :P I'm sure the Gatekeeper has plenty of eyes under that armor. Real question is why aliens do not have Death Star or my favorite - Anti Air guns Nope, they have Anti air guns but Fir...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

Shaped charge is the most noisy item in the entire game, more than a Rocket! You can definitely sneak a Reaper inside the prisons in WotC (i did it each time) but you get revealed as soon as you grab the downed soldier so you can't sneak out . It's usually possible to just throw the evac immediately...

Re: HP Dodge & Defense

I call those Survival stats and any soldier you plan to use as a tank should have at least some. HP is always useful. Even later the difference between a 3 or 6 (starting) HP soldier is significant and can mean surviving a shot or not, or at least reduce infirmary downtime. That being said HP is qui...

The lame and never really used "Snap Shot Sharpshooter" tree could be replaced by the harder hitting Reaper traits. I'm using that "never really used" tree a lot :!: I'm using it both on real snapshoters (i had 2 in general ops squads and one in a combat heavy squad that also ha...

I would expect it to be the final patch for the Vanilla version of LW2. If they want to work on a WotC version they can't maintain 2 different mods of that size.

Yes, i totally expect there will be LWotC, no i didn't use a Gremlin to access their secret files, it's pure speculation

Re: Fire Grenade Tunning

I've used a few Dragon Rounds in my last LW2 campaign, giving them to OW soldiers as a +1 damage round (against most enemies) that have a chance to apply an additional CC. They work sometimes, not other times. The best part about using them during OW is the counter doesn't tick until the next alien ...

Re: If we'll get LW for WoTC, can we have (much) less concealment in it?

It's not a balance issue. Pavonis' team tried to balance concealment, and did a reasonably good job at it. But ultimately it's still not very fun to play for me There, corrected for you ;) AI can't deal with your invisible soldiers, playing pure stealth is outright boring (due to very simple mechan...
