Re: AWC Balance
I... honestly don't know how to use the AWC. Like, sure, you can potentially get some variety from it. But frankly? I feel like LW2 has significantly less content than LW1, and I think a large part of that is that I feel the AWC doesn't usefully contribute much. Like, I have Biggest Booms on half m...

Re: Perks auto-balancing
currently perks are already "auto-balanced" by random soldier stats, random soldier awcs, and different conditions as the campaign progresses. I pick a hugely more varied set of perks for each roster in my campaigns than I ever did in LW1. I agree with this, but the main issue to picking ...

Re: Recruitment Raid Very Difficult
http://i.imgur.com/2dU0BFZ.jpg?2 Moderate-Heavy on Commander and the toughest Long War 2 mission i have ever played (including a finished Veteran campaign). This is an excellent example of why these missions are not hard at all. This mission was 100% preventable, and entirely up to the player as to...

Re: Questionable Perks
failsafe is very very bad. i have no idea why people like that perk. the relevant consequence of failing a hack in any situation where you care about the hack is always that you didn't get the hack success reward, not that you have to suffer the hack failure punishment. I think your missing the poi...

Re: Recruitment Raid Very Difficult
Reinforcement waves take time to build up, and on the mini retaliations are scripted more then regular missions. I rarely have a problem with them, by freezing in place for 3 turns, killing the reinforcement wave, which will pull any nearby pods to you, killing them and doing a blue move / overwatch...

Re: Wet Work Balance
Experience in general is weighted to far in favor of number of missions, vs kills. Wet work just does not have any real value due to the how little it modifies kill experience in general which is to low in proportion to mission experience.

Re: Weirdly Low Income
Your projected income varies depending on how often you change jobs. If you switch out rebels to a different job it will adjust for that. You also have faceless in all of your havens generating supply most likely. Swap out your low ranked guys and put them in combat teams to level them up. You do no...

Re: I Just Did a 100% Shinobi Playthrough: What I Learned About Rangers
Rangers are largely fine as is, they do not need any super revamps just like other classes that do not fit into a specific players play style or preferences. Rangers are the infantry class of xcom 2, as such they trade mobility for volume of fire, and reliable consistent damage output. There are cur...

Re: Datatap Missions
Are the pods spawning proximity intentional in this mission? On veteran I activated to huge pods on both flanks. These type of missions are completely out of control for the player. There is no tactics here involved when you sandwiched from the start. Why there is no minimum spawn distance from the...

Re: DFA vs. Rapid Targeting
it depends on what type of snipers you prefer honestly. Both have strengths and weaknesses. DFA snipers are traditional one shot one kill snipers who want to stay stationary and in high ground. RT snipers are much more squad based utility types, who buff the squad around them, while still doing some...

Re: How many are attempting "Light" Guerrilla Ops with 6-ish soldiers?
There is a relatively large thread discussing stealth on reddit at the moment. https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/5xu0vo/lw2_can_someone_explain_all_the_stealth_hate/ For myself, i do 5-6 man light combat missions anytime i can. Its not superior to stealth, i just refuse to stealth all that many...

Re: How are people liberating regions so fast?
Ok , similiar Q. I lost my 4th game on Commander in late December. While i am pretty good in fighting aliens, i guess im doing something wrong in Geoscape. Do we have to Liberate 2nd country, after i Liberate first one ? I didnt done that and maybe because of that i feel like im goin 2 slow ( never...

Re: Help with a 10 advent strength region
If you have the liberation chain already completed up to network tower, then just take the tower and do the HQ. advent strength at the HQ/Tower is relatively meaningless just take your time and boost it to 200%. If you have not gotten the liberation chain at all, then just ignore that region and go ...

Re: Timer Q
The timer resetting everytime you completed a blacksite is no longer useable in xcom 2. it was changed in vanilla a long time ago due to being easily abused i believe. while you can stop it you can no longer reset it once it starts counting down.

Re: "Protect Data tap" missions seem unbalanced
data tap missions are somewhat random, but most of the time easily completed. The only real issue occurs when you end up with multiple pods activated on turn one at the data tap itself. Pod placement is pretty standard on the mini retaliations, so if you know rough locations, you can isolate the pod...

Re: Seeking some general advice on Legend/Honestman
Dong combat missions becomes harder the higher the advent strength, you can offset this by infiltrating above 100%, and having good equipment. Eventually you will reach a limit on what you can do in the region. For me at anything under advent strength 8 , any timed mission with a good combat team i ...

Re: Tank and defensive perk usage.
So what happened that made armor stacking so much better in LW2? I remember it wasn't a very useful thing in Vanilla. Blast Padding, the Vanilla equivalent of Formidable, was pretty much a non-entitiy. In long war 2 armor is basically damage resistance. Since it directly negates damage you take, it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhhalDmR-no xwynns demonstrating how armor stacking is OP, even without dodge stacking . (gets shot at 4 times while out in the open, taking 1 damage each time, on a unit with 22 hp). Its a brutal combo, pretty much running a danger close game, supported by HT sniper...

Re: Weapon upgrades
If a grenadier, technical, or specialist is not going to move or act on that turn, its much more useful to steady weapon provided you do not need to use other actions, as it offers you an additional decent shot at an enemy on the next turn. Correct me if I'm using faulty maths here, but aren't two ...

Re: Alternate nerf to Hail of Bulletse
A bit of a bump here, because I feel this is still relevant given 1.3 will be a balancing patch. Hail of Bullets doesn't feel especially nerfed on Gunners. Just reload and use it, same as before, really. The "cycle cooldowns" build is largely untouched. At the same time, while it might be...

Re: Campaign Feedback: Prices/Abilities/strategic layerha
I mean, no rangers are still pretty bad. Even as weapons are upgraded. They get some OK abilities and kind of have some interesting utility but... So the big thing about sharpshooters is that DFA allows you to fire and then steady. Which gives a significant amount of aim and critical chance. Ranger...

Re: Overwatch Creep and Pod Mechanics
It goes beyond pod mechanics. It's simply a side effect of a turn based game, where you have the ability to hold preemptive offensive actions when it is not your turn. The only way to really deal with the issue is to remove overwatch from the game, thus forcing a system where the player acts, then t...

Re: Weapon upgrades
- The stock seems to be the most niche upgrade and is only really valid for one (sub-)class. It might have to be buffed - maybe to a non-activated or green-action aim boost (higher than scope) dependent on remaining or having remained stationary (although that would diminish a sniper's Death from A...

I came into this topic fully expecting to see a discussion about "Failsafe" and how it should probably be a GTS unlock for the whole class (bring back GTS unlocks!), and not just a perk that you always take because the other perks on this rank are questionable at best (Why is Field Surgeo...
