[suggestion] squad bench

Post by warbrand2 »

Ok, I have a habit of keeping my squads 4-6 man depending on missions but each squad having max on members list. With this comes a problem of each time I have a new mission I have to manually remove soldiers back down to 4 or 6. while yes this is a minor problem it got me thinking why can't we set out squad members to be bench members.

IDEA: advanced squad control.

DEPLOYMENT TYPE: sellects what size the squad will try to be on infiltration missions, example setting it small with a squad that has 10 members will only put the four best based on member setting bellow.

small:4 members
medium: 6 members
large: 10 members

MEMBER SETTING
A TEAM: main squad members will try to put them in all missions, prioritizing over all other types.
B TEAM: will put these guys in if not enough main members, example if soldiers are killed wounded or in training.
BENCH: will only be put in if no B team members are spair basicly that bottom of the barrel.

SIDE IDEA: C.O
info: A tier three or up squad commander(forget actual names) a C.O gives a squad training bonus. A C.O can give a buff to either WILL, AIM, or DODGE before a mission. this buff is only active for the one mission and vanishes afterwards. a C.O can give this buff even if not on the mission.

SQUAD SPLITS: rare but some times you may have a squad split and not want to manually put members of one squad in another even temporarily(yes being lazy here). squad splitting allows you to put members of a squad not actively on one mission on another with out having to make a new squad, with this the can take the C.O bonus suggested above.
note: this one is only really useful for people who play purely stealth based.

...you can kind of do this already? It's called "don't assign soldiers to a squad" and "you can select soldiers from other squads".

I do it all the time with my Specialists.

If a soldier can be deployed, they'll be lit up. If a soldier can't be deployed, which is only possible due to injury, training, or an existing assignment, they will be greyed out.

Also Officers already give passive bonuses to soldiers serving alongside them, provided that they've been working together for a long time already.

It sounds like your problems would be better solved by having a greater number of focused squads instead of (apparently) just throwing everyone together into megasquads.
