Kubikiri = Ranged Only?

Kubikiri looks like it would be a fine AWC choice for my Shinobi... but does it work with melee weapons, or only ranged?

Looks like this is the case. It uses the primary weapon.

The restriction isn't ranged-only; it's primary-weapon-only. So a modded class with a melee primary could use it in melee, I believe.

I doubt that. As a shot, it's rigged to use ammo. With no ammo on a melee weapon, it won't work i think.

Maaan, we need some kind of brawler with some kind of Falloutish powerfist as primary which will need to reload power cells.

Wouldn`t it be fun to punch aliens in the faces?

Yeah, we got a spark, but 3 turns CD on the punch? Come on. I honestly thoght Pavonis would make them without CD like in EW.

Kubikiri only works on wounded targets and you have to score a critical hit.

There is also a bug if I recall right that makes Kubikiri have issues on targets with armor.

I've never seen it work with a ranged attack to be honest.
Attacked two different damaged sectopods, in both cases got a yellow critical hit display for 14 damage with a coil sniper rifle that left then with 20 odd hp left.
14 hit is not half damage so it must have proc'd but 20hp left is not dead.

in 1.2 they're adding a ton more damage to it (when you crit) to make sure it actually kills things as advertised.
