Hello everyone!

1. Faceless in the mission
According to one of xwynns vidoe from last season faceless start to show on dark VIP at str 4 and above. Apparently it's not true.
Had a dark VIP mission (regular anti DE, not even Lib3) in str3 region - suddenly a civ nearby transformed into a faceless - didn't anticipated that at all and got a nasty wound as a result in mission that should be flawless otherwise!

What is the true conditions for faceless to appear in VIP missoins?

2. Archons at FL9!
According to wiki Archons should start to appear at FL11 - mid August. Apparently this is also not true.
The same Dark VIP - Jul14 (FL9) - an Archon appeared as pod leader.
I was not ready to fight 32HP 25def 25dodge monster on timed mission under RR and Vigilance DE!
And day after in lib3 (relay) - another one appeared as a pod leader. So it start making me nervous...
I've red a post here some time ago mentioned that a +1FL monster may randomly appears on some missions but I see +2FL ayy now...

How it's possible for +2FL Ayys to appear on a regular mission and what is the condition for that?

Keep in mind that if you initiate missions at low infiltration, the mission should get a boost to its Force level concerning the level and type of aliens that you can see.

I have done low infiltration missions in March on Commander and have seen Mutons there.

From what I gather you have under-infiltrated and got a really unfavorable enemy composition.

Dark VIP was 105% inf and Lib3 was 192% inf so it's not my case.

1. Minimum Strength is 3, but remember that modifiers from the activity that generated the mission and from infiltration apply here. Chance to have Faceless is 50%. Number of Faceless is 1 at STR 3 (always hidden) and 2 at 4-5 (both hidden if the VIP is inside a building, only one hidden if the VIP is close to a vehicle). Above STR 5 things get more complicated and you start to deal with strange things like the STR 6 schedule with 8 Faceless (5 hidden, 3 revealed).

2. It's actually a problem inherited from Vanilla and that only happens in Legendary AFAIK. Pod Leaders always have a chance to receive a Force Level bump that doesn't apply to the followers. This is actually the same thing that causes the "Viper in Gatecrasher" problem.

I had a catastrophic dark vip Mission in a 5 or 6 STR Region where there were at least 5 faceless all in front of the vip Building. It was my first dark VIP Mission too so I had no idea what I was up against.
If that had been an Ironman Mission, it might have been a squadwipe, at least half the Team ended up dead before I reloaded.
I fucking hate those missions. Since then, I opt for a shinobi/sniper + maybe optional specialist for snipes, and if I can't get a safe snipe - I go the fuck home. Screw you guys ----> home.

I would suggest to bring a technic with FiTH and mk2 gauntlet for dark VIP missions on high str regions.

If VIP spawn in builings it's very difficult for sniper to get a clear vision on him and stay away of ayys at the same time - so blow the wall with the mk2 rocket (25 inv. dmg = guarantee breach in any wall), kill VIP with sniper and get away next turn.
It is even easier if VIP is near the car - fire it on the car close to VIP = instakill (car explosion 6 dmg + 4-9 dmg from mk2 rocket).

How do you deal with the Problem though that your tech will most likely get a full round of shots fired at him? You'd Need a 4-man Team for a safe extraction then: shinobi, tech, sniper, and an officer. Oooor... you send an officer shinobi. Hmmmmm. :) Seems like a good Option. :mrgreen:

I also make many of the officers
but first and foremost I make specialists officers
mostly because I think the specialist is less endangered to be killed since all that Needs to happen is shinobi gets spotted and killed up Close.
Also I Need/want a shinobi for every Mission so especially in the beginning of the game I can't spare them for officer Training.
But of Course I recruit rookies and Train them as shinobis ASAP
