Hi!
I dont know if this is a bug or a feature, but I was on a jailbreak mission and was unable to open any cells. I did the mission with a team of rookies, no specialist. The mission was literally impossible
Was this a bug, or are specialists required for these missions? I know in the original you could hack a door by standing next to it.

Platform: Windows 7 x64, Steam version
Xcom 2 Mods: Perfect information, some music kits, additional icons, and a few soldier customisation mods
Save Game: This was in an ironman run, sorry, but I already finished the mission(s)

I just did a "hack terminal" mission and wasn't able to hack the terminal either

I've been able to hack things using the standard pad (my stealth team's super-fast Shinobi actually did a lot of the hacking until I assigned them a dedicated Specialist) so it sounds like a bug of a different flavour.
Is the game not showing the green-star-on-floor and red-padlock graphics when you tell a soldier to move next to or near a hackable object? Chests and cell doors should be hackable from any adjacent tile. Terminals are slightly more picky about their locations.

I probably should have followed the proper bug reporting guidelines. I will edit my OP

His Gremlin is able to hack the jail door, but there are no green squares for anyone else, and no Amber objective hack ability.

Sounds like people need to check their soldier hack stats. According to a couple of posts I've seen, you need a Hacking stat of at least 1 to hack things. NCE can result in 0 (or negative) hacking, preventing your soldiers from doing that kinda thing.
